SNO-DAZE DANCE AND CARNIVAL The Sno-Daze Dance was held Friday, January 26, and the Carnival from 7:30-11:00. The activities consisted of the Slave Block, sponsored by the Senior class, the Dart Throw, sponsored by the student council, and the Cake Walk, sponsored by the Spanish Club. In the meantime, students were dancing to the music provided by Chaos in the lunchroom from 8:00-11:00 P.M. Sno-Daze events were sponsored by the Student Council. 24

SWEETHEARTS “79 A full moon, dimly lit dance floor, and sparkling disco music set the stage for the sweetheart dance and Coronation which was held in the student lunchroom on February 9. This annual event is sponsored by the Pom-Toms to raise money for costumes. Because the event followed Sno-Daze by only two weeks, consideration was given to dropping the coronation. The final decision was to hold the coronation and it was evident by the anticipation and excitement preceding the crowning of Edison's Sweethearts, that this tradition was here to stay. Twin City Disco provided an appropriate variety of music which, combined with the fact that the Tommies defeated South's Basketball team and won the Twin City Wrestling title, made this a festive evening. Finally the magic hour arrived, all candidates were given a flower for good luck— the level of tension rose and cameras snapped as Bev Schuman walked casually behind the king candidates and placed the coveted crown on the handsome brow of John Schroeder. The cheers had not yet died down before Alice Corbett lifted the Queen's crown high above the heads of the smiling queen candidates and for a few agonizing seconds the crowd grew silent and watched intently as the crown weaved and bobbed and finally was matched with the sparkling eyes of Lori McNeal.
