Activities continued, although thoughts were with the injured students. 12 Homecoming Wjujf n? At 1:30 the assembly began. There were many performances including skits, singing, uni-cycling, flag-girls, cheerleaders, Pom-Toms, and the band. The assembly ended with the presentation of flowers to the new queen, Sandy Blosberg by Jean Jarosak, 1975 Homecoming Queen. Immediately following the assembly everyone headed out into the cold and misty weather to watch the parade. There were a number of floats including those by the seniors, the juniors, the sophomores, the Spanish club and the Polish pacers. Also in the parade were decorated cars, cheerleaders, Pom-Toms and our own band in the lead. After the pre-game show, by the band, the football team proved to the Southwest Indians our theme We don't take no sitting bull as we topped the Indians 28-6. After the game we were reminded that this was to be the last Homecoming game on this field as ground-breaking ceremonies were held for our new gymnasium. At 8:00 came the final remnants of our homecoming week. CHORAL GROUPS Edison's Choral Club began the year by singing at shopping centers and senior citizens functions. In December they perfonned their annual Sunday service at the Fort Snclling Chapel and then the school holiday concert with the band. The rest of the year they spent putting on a musical The Man From Venus and their spring concert. Some of the choir members represented Edison In the Twin City Choir Concert in February. From marching in front of charging elephants (Ringling Bros. Bamum and Bailey Circus), to skate-a-thons, to North Star games, to performing for trees (SOS). During the marching season, the kids have a great time. It's usually a long and somewhat rowdy bus ride to their destination. On arrival, the band diligently works to ready themselves for the parade. The heavy uniforms arc grud-Ingly put on at the last possible minute before marching and everybody helps everybody else. When It comes time to march, everyone seems to put 150% into it. And that’s what makes for an award-winning band. But when you strip away all the glamour and cloth of the uniforms and flags, it’s the music that counts. And that’s what the concert band is all about. Drum Section: (front row) Denise Tokar, Steve Carlson. Patrice Joncas; (back row) DeLaura Camplin, Marie Ogren. Linda Sawochka. and Tom Lynch. FLAG GIRLS One of the many units of the marching band is the Flag Girl Squad. Being an Edison Flag Girl requires discipline, endurance, and devotion. It requires the discipline to fulfill demands; the endurance to perform under pressure and conditions; and most of all the devotion in representing Edison and her great band all over the state. Despite sore feet and either freezing or roasting temperatures - march high, head up. march spirited, eyes forward. listen closely for those commands, and with everlasting smiles - be proud. During those years I continue to enjoy working with students, staff and the Northeast community. - A1 Johnson An administrator's job is to facilitate the various components of education so that the students derive the best possible education according to his her needs. I enjoy my role as administrator especially at Edison because you feel you arc a part of a team effort - basically most students come to Edison with serious Intent of achieving an education, most parents support and give priority to education, and the staff at Edison is very dedicated to providing a good education for students and providing the extra counseling to students so they can take advantage of their opportunities. I'm sure that the staff wondered if it was really worth all the grief. Keeping track of the names of sixteen hundred students involved In the multitude of activities at Edison High School is mind-boggling. Upgrading the format created additional problems as the intensive reporting created a need for better journalistic skills, plus the anxiety of change itself took its toll. Looking back. 1 feel that It's been an exceptional year. As a staff we have formed warm friendships and have enjoyed our hours together. We are proud of this year's edition and hope you will be too. I want to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience. Mel Pibal Advisor Dan Renner - Assistant Editor, Mel Pibal -Chief. and Gloria Hedler • Editor-in The student section worked very hard this year on putting out a new style of yearbook. I really had a great time and I think our yearbook is one of the best Edison has ever put out. Debbie Stegora Student Editor The members of the Student Section arc Beth LaGrangc. Debbie Stegora. and Randy Kudzia. Working with my assistant. Kathy Bums, we managed to complete a new design of faculty section before the final deadline. John Kitt Student Life Editor The members of the Extra-Curricular section arc JerTy Korbllck, Sabrina Radcmachcr. and Debbie Jurichko. At the beginning of the year, when we decided to make-over the yearbook design. I didn't know if we could do it. In the Extra-Curricular section, the goal was to make it more interesting and more informative. I feel that we have succeeded in doing so. This year we've come a long way. but we still have a way to go. Sabrina Radcmachcr Extra-Curricular Editor Jim Pettit - Sports Editor The members of the Index Section are Mary Kay Bums and Ruth Futcher. Mike Watters - Photographer 173 Wizard Staff ADDENDUM With the completion of the WIZARD for 1977, another school year comes to a close. In the pages of this book are recorded the successes and triumphs of the past school year in picture and script. It is our hope that this book will bring back many cherished memories in the years to come. The final result of the WIZARD is due in large measure to the watchfulness and zeal of WIZARD staff. The activity which prevailed in the editorial room during the past few months has now resulted in a job well done! This book has been a task which required a lot of time and energy. I trust, however, that the staff feels that the activity was well worth while and that valuable experiences were gained. Working on the yearbook was quite a challenge. It was also an honor and privilege to be selected as Editor-In-Chief. I'd like to recognize the members of the staff who gave so much of their time to case a hard job. Special credit is due to Mr. Mel Pibal, yearbook advisor, for his guidance and patience. He has helped inmcasurably. and his encouragement and assistance brought this publication into being. I take this opportunity to say: THANK YOU. EVERYBODY. AND BEST WISHES FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE.
