Wc had 10 lettermen returning from our undefeated season of 71”. Wc knew we would have an inexperienced interior line, fair quarterbacking and good running backs. In spite of our greenness wc looked good in our preview. Wc survived a tic with Henry in a fumbleitis game. Wc lost to a good Coon Rapids team in our bye game. Wc then took on powerful Washburn and began to hold our own and play some good football. We went on from there and won our last six games. Our squad began to mature and we were pleased to have three of our boys selected to the All City Team, co-captain Rick Eskola (H.B.), co-captain Lee Lindahl (Def.E.), and Greg Stephanson (Off.E.). It turned out to be a pleasant season for us and with some experience and 14 juniors returning wc could dcvelopc into a good football team next year. Coach Parsons Son' Musclt's! Daylight! Block! The squad was somewhat handicapped by lack of experience but more so by their lack of size. In nine of the thirteen league losses Edison equaled outscored the opponents from the field only to loose at the foul line At tourney time they were playing their best ball, defeating a good Fridley team 63-62 before losing to number one ranked Moundsview 67-55. Some of his favorite things at Edison are the Pom-Toms, Flag Girls and Cheerleaders. His other hobbies include music, reading, soccer, skiing and raising dogs. When Barry returns home he will finish the two years of high school he has left and go on to study medicine Edison wishes you success and happiness Barry. We hope you return soon. He also attended many of the football and hockey games When Pepe returns home he will complete his first year at the University of St. Charles Borromeo where he is studying chemical engineering. I also feel that one of the most important lessons that they leam is that there is a direct relationship between what they do. how hard they work and what they can ex pea to accomplish. I feel that sports allow young people an equal opportunity to become fully committed to a goal or objective and work towards its fulfillment. Sports I feel exposes young people to periods of great emotional stress both elation and dejection that are so real in life. — Mr. Be van 5 Coxh Mr Jim Andrrion Baseball The 1972 Baseball Team ended up their conference schedule with a 15 win and 3 loss record. Some highlights were the flea market, the bullfights and sampling foods like Octopus and Squid. Edison students proved again that their reputation for being ambassadors of good will is accurate. The six seniors and three juniors started, from the day they were chosen, practicing, planning, and looking forward to September. They were all devoted, enthusiastic and worked hard for all the athletic teams anti the assemblies. Fhcy were elated at the victories and dejected at the losses, and they never last their enthusiasm. The graduating cheerleaders will be missed, but at least there arc three excellent returning lettermen who can help next years squad considerably. H. Meixner This publication gives me a fine opportunity to express to you, I the class of 1973, my congratulations for having completed a most I important step toward preparing yourself for a meaningful and I fruitful life and to indicate to you, as a class, that I have enjoyed I working with you and have appreciated the leadership provided by I your officers and the senior members of the Student Council I That leadership proved to be viable and flexible, one which real- I ized the need for and worked for change in a very mature manne Individually, your success in the future will come only if you I are able to understand the need for change, that change must n- I come merely for the sake of change and that growth can con' I from proper change. Such change will provide a better world all people regardless of nationality and regardless of creed or I color. Yours is a future which will demand much from each of I you. We who have worked with you over the past three yean I look forward to your playing an important role in making o • country a good place in which to live. Again, congratulations ar may your life prove to be happy, successful and worthwhile. Vice-Principal Wilbur Lewis The function of the office of the assistant principal may be classified as a four-part role: administrative, supportive, coordinating and initiating. Effective administrative procedures will permit the local staff to function in an environment which will enhance educational growth for both staff and students. Supportive conduct will make possible the climate necessary for true learning to take place. Coordinating ability will help to match staff, facilities. and students so that educational experiences will be meaningful. Initiating a master schedule which includes the items just listed In short the assistant principal, regardless of his duties, is an implementer, a decision maker, and a suggestor within a complex school environment. Vice-Principal A1 Johnson I believe in the students at Edison High and it has been a challenge and a valuable experience, serving as assistant principal. I hope the experiences you have had here will help you solve the problems you will meet in the future and will have helped you to adjust to the adult world you are now entering. Each year the challenge seems greater and each graduating class faces a different set of problems than the preceding one. I have faith in the young people of today and I am sure this class will meet the challenge, will solve the problems, and will contribute to the society in which they will live.
