The two greatest games were the ones against Marshall and our game against Central. After losing six games straight we came back and smashed the highly favoured Marshall team 18 to 6. That game enabled us to keep the Eastside championship. Even though we lost to Central, it is remembered for the co-ordinated effort it showed. 123 George Bart—FB Pete Mazurko— E Ron Sushak—C Walt Kikos—G Bob Maland—HB Dick Held-QB l?4 Gridders Steve Wontor—T Dave Vadis—E Ken Sfellmacher—T When thing really got bad they sent in Held. Faring well in competition was Edison's one act play, 'The Farce of the Worthy Master Pierre Patelin, in which Lynda Lea Fuller was named Best Actress of the City One Act Play Festival. The one act play was also presented in an assembly along with scenes from modern dramas, as performed by students from Mr. Litowsky's play production class. Another highlight of the year was The Boundless Deep—An Essay on Henrik Ibsen which was an original television show produced by Edison's own radio and television class. These are the fine students which help make Edison a school widely known for its achievements in the field of speech and drama. 174 Your Honor, It was this way . . . The honored guests dined and were entertained in Dayton's Sky Room. On the threshold of the future, the seniors listened to the words of Mr. Vakos, as he spoke of Our Place in the Space Race. Obvervafiom from Outer Space 176 Marietta By electing her the most fascinating senior girl, the members of this year's graduating class expressed their feelings about Marietta loannidou, our foreign exchange student from Greece. Marietta came to us knowing some about our background, eager to learn more. Through her stay here, she not only learned, but she also taught Edison students foreign culture, as well as teaching us more about friendship, kindness, and love of fellow man. Marietta was active in many school organizations. She was a member of Blue Tri, French Club, AFS Club, Student Council, and the senior cabinet, bringing fun and enjoyment and success to the organizations. Marietta will always be remembered as a most important member of the senior class. She brought joy and friendship to the lives of many. The students of Edison wish her much happiness and good luck in the years to come. 177 Fashions Fashion hit sophomores and juniors as well as seniors at Edison this year. For girls, a new, casual, yet smart look was obtained with hip-hugger skirts, poor-boy sweaters, and long stockings dominating the scene. A girl's wardrobe was never complete without a smart, basic, wool dress or a flashy, bright print suit for spring. New, sharp, and fun styles made for a fashionable year. On the boys' scene, Pendletons played an important part in everyone's wardrobe. Ever popular were Gant shirts, with increasing emphasis on plaids and prints. Loafers, walkers , and wing-tips were on the scene to make for a neat, well-dressed gentleman at Edison High. 178 179 Medics and Merriment The operetta presented by Edison's Choral Club was one thoroughly en|oyed by all. Under the direction of Miss Ferguson, Edison's auditorium was transformed into the health resort of the great Dr. Drinkwater. It is here we learn of the family confusion of the doctor as well as the excitement and fun that took place during a most entertaining evening. 180 Dolly Prochaska, Cheryl Johnson, Bonnie Bredsten, Sue Goetz, Shirley Sodd. With the fine help of Mr. Lunkley, the 1966 Wizard has become a yearbook to cherish and long remember. Business Barb Churik As Business Manager of the Wizard, Barb had a busy job ordering the year books and taking care of all money and receipts. As well as being in charge of the financial situation. Barb was a great help in planning our book. Seniors Initiative, cooperation, and long hours of hard work are what comprise the senior section of the Wizard. These five staff members did an excellent job on a most important part of the yearbook. Standing: Doug Anderson, Bill Hendrickson Seated: Jeanne Ignatowicz, Sandy Novak, Mary Graf Organizations A very busy section was Organizations , where (when working) a lot was accomplished. These staff members found that working with all the students of Edison High was hard work, but yet an awful lot of fun! But if these girls had any problems, they handled them beautifully. 192 Chris Hunczak, Gloria Josul Nancy Larson, Tim Resch, Ruth Schulte, Bernt Lukkason By becoming acquainted with many phases of the sports world, these members worked hard to put together a fine sports section.
