DEDICATED TO NORTHEAST For most of us, it all started in the fall of 1947. Our usual, carefree routine was broken by the sound of a tardy bell at one of the nearby grade schools. Some of us attended Pillsbury, or maybe Prescott. Waite Park, or Lowry. No matter in which grade school we started, the routine was much the same. As we progressed through the grades, our thoughts ranged far beyond our local community; yet our social activities were limited to our own immediate neighborhood—Northeast. The grade schools provided for our future through social adjustment and academic achievement. By the end of our junior high term, the ’ scope’’ of our community had been greatly enlarged—both in area and in friends. The majority of us began to notice where our interests lay, and we began to think of our future in the community. For most of us, senior high brought about a great change. Now our classmates were students from all over the Northeast area. We chose our subjects on the basis of which would help us most in our future occupations. Academic and social achievement became more competitive, and our personal standings in the class were an all-important factor. Most of us made many important decisions and tried to make the most of what we were offered in the way of education.
