Tuppf: 311: f S' ' ' EXERCISE AND KEEP FIT Thinkers As advisers ot Sock 'n' Buskin, the class play, and the Footlights and Cur- tain Club, Miss Tupper, Mr. Sanders, and Miss Garland encourage dramatic talent at Edison. Miss Tupper also teaches Shakespeare, Mr. Sanders, commercial law and personal type, and Miss Garland, radio and speech. Interested in poetry, Miss Tupper or- iginated the Winged Horsemen Club. Edison would not be complete with' out its girls' sports which are super- vised by Miss Barton and Mrs. Erick' son. Both are physical education in- structors and fun-loving sportswomen. Students are prepared for good citi- zenship by taking courses which help them to gain an intelligent understand- ing of the many complex and import- ant problems of the world today. Sub- jects oi this type -American govern- ment, modern problems, and history are taught by Mrs. Buckle, Miss M. Simmons, Mr. Hendricks, and Mr. Curran. AS THE EAR TURNS

of lt All Yay, Edison! shout cheerleaders, Hooters Cluo, and Edison sport fans. Supervising the cheerleaders and the Hooters Clulo are two English teachers --Miss Eich and Miss Wallace. Miss Wallace is also the tune senior class adviser. Miss Torney, geometry teacher, has charge of our new loand uniforms. English loecomes more interesting through the work of teachers like Miss Ward, Miss Cowan, Miss Sorenson, and Miss Challman. The classes study lives and works of American and English authors. Students write themes, essays, or poems, give topics, do outside reading, and learn correct grammar. To be more efficient, the Student Council is di- vided into smaller committees under the supervision of separate advisers Mrs. Olsen, who teaches Enge lishy Mrs. Nordloy, algebra and bookkeeping: Mrs. Pohlson, science: and Mr. lohnson, electricity and drawing. With qualified librarians like Mrs. Rendernick and Miss Titsworth, Edie sonians are given considerable help in finding rnaterial ter tdpics, select- ing cutstanding hooks, and acquiring training in library work. Students learning German, French, or Latin cecorne more interested in theni throuqh the language cluhs un- der the instruction of Miss Birkrnuier and Miss Ber, Miss lacobsen, and Mrs. Mclntyre.
