Expression . . . Edison’s Thospians . . . running the gaunllot of oraoiiona . . . comedy to tragedy. Choral Reading . . . proper enunciation . . . better Inflection . . . interesting speech protects. English . . . American and English literature . . . Shakespeare's drama . . . everything from Barrie’s whimsy to Poe's melodrama . . . composition. English Teachers Miss McCullough small, brunette English teacher who spends much time writing theses for the University . . . enjoys reading and hiking . . . also likes to attond concorts and good shows. Mrs. Olsen—another life blighted by hcurs oi teaching those seniors . . . also co-advlses and coworries about the WIZARD . . . brightens her llfo outside the class room In winter by reading a good book ... In summer goes fishing with her husband . . . she comes from a family of fishing enthusiasts. Miss Ross her prcgrossiveness is vividly disclosed In the pages of the GLEAMS she has advised . . . she has a passion for traveling and takes excellent snapshots of scenery she has seen . . . also adores puppy dogs (the wooden type) and has many well-behaved little pots. Miss Seaman amazes us with her youthful verve . . . has a secret lovo In her hoart for new recipes . . . Is a great oolledor . . . has rows and rows ci first editions, autographed: and beautifully Illustrated books . . . and reads them all tool Miss Sorenson teaches us cur last high school English . . . sports take a great deal o! her time . . . she onco coachod a basketball loam . . . this game Is still her favorite ... a horse is her best liked means of recreational transportation. Miss Tupper this marvelous person lords It over the seniors in advisory, evon if sho does have to look up to them . . . Shakespeare has been kept alive by her interpretation of his works ... a constant inspiration to the members of both her clubs of poetry and Shakespeare . . . naturally, she attends every good play that comes to Minneapolis . . . cooking is a pleasant pastime for her . . . cookies and pies are her chief culinary arts. Miss Ward -adviser and chief worrier of the WIZARD . . . between worries manages to teach the seniors tholr English ... an export at bridge . . . her friends vouch for that ... a golf enthusiast ... a favorite with her students ... a really grand porson. Mrs. Wilkins -how many of us had our tenth grade IVANHOE and IDYLLS OF THE KING made more alive and real undor her skillful guidance . . . she devotes spare time to solving housewife’s problems . . . roads anything In print . . . has the zeal of a Carrie Nation for stamping out discourtesy . . . likes motoring, mountain climbing, and good motion pictures. English Teachers Miss Albinson -an excellent English teacher ... an interesting conversationalist . . . and being an English teacher, she naturally likes books . . . has the unusual hobby of collecting 18th century furniture ... is now furnishing her new apartment in this poriod. Miss Challman -Edison's great detective -she's now on the trail of a sure method for Injecting painlessly into the hoads of pupils correct grammar . . . her pet peeve is the frequent use of bad grammar over the radio . . . her week ends are spent on automobile trips. Miss Cowan -her geniality and Infectious enthusiasm inspire us to expend greater energy when studying Chaucer or Wordsworth ... is an all-around good sport . . . reads and parlor dozes ... helps with the housework and managing her nloces and nephews . .. likes an odd moment . .. would like to travel, but discovers that her twenty-four hours a day are too full. Miss Dunn -has her difficulties with the freshmen and the Odyssey . . . dees handwork of all kinds for relaxation and is mighty good at it. as her scholastic records show . . . paints dishes, makes lewelry and pottery, and does metal work and book binding . . . quite an artiste. Miss Fisch -has recently begun teaching 12th grade English and expression, making both very popular . . . she divides her time equally between reading, hiking, and horseback riding. Miss Garland -of all the fine work she has done for Edison, we have enjoyed most of all the plays she has coached ... is an excellent make-up artist .. . her one hobby is horseback riding .. . to use her own words. It's a grand sport be xiuso I love horses. Mrs. Gillies -our school publications have benefited greatly by her advice . . . she has tried her hand at all three . . . now the RECORD takes up her time . . . hor reading consists mostly of Journalistic material . . . her interest in art leads her to every Minneapolis exhibition . . . she can always be persuaded to take a motor trip . . . either the Gaspe region or our own lakes excite her. Miss Johnson —charming Interpreter of poems and essays . . . dial twister of new radio to get foreign programs . . . collects postcards . . . also dolls with foreign costumes. Mr. Mankowmki an Edison alumnus of whom we students are proud . . . likes school so well he teaches summer school . . . reads poetry and would like to writo some . . . likes to play with his three-year old daughter. Marcia Ann . . . enjoys watching all sports . . . plays hand ball and golf. Page 12

Miss Jacobsen —our new French teacher . . . studied at University of Paris ... in spare moments studies Norwegian with Miss Loland . . . also skils in true Norwegian fashion. Mrs. McIntyre seems as if our language teachers like to travel, because here's another who has traveled in Europe and from coast to coast eating up the miles , either on railroad or car . . . belongs to so many organizations that she is clubbed to death” ... is skilled at doinq needle point.
