KRAMPE SEES EDISON GROW Originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, Mr. Virgil Krampe received his B.A. Degree from Indiana State College and his M.A. Degree from Indiana University. Mr. Krampe started his teaching career at Edison and in 1934 when Edison’s building was destroyed by fire, he went to Horace Mann High School. After fourteen years at Lew Wallace High School, Mr. li ' l:! . LJ. Krampe was appointed in 1950 as Vocational Coordinator of Adult Education. In 1952, he returned to Lew Wallace High School where he served as assistant principal until I960 when he then came to Edison to serve in the same capacity. r j mm Besides enjoying wood-working and designing, Mr. Krampe indulges in Civil War history, traveling through-out the U.S.A. and playing the organ. He is active in local and civic organizations such as Rotary International, Phi Delta Kappa and the Gary Chamber of Commerce. 4

COMPLETES 20th YEAR In his twentieth year as principal of Edison High School, Dr. C.E. Swingley has en- countered many new and rewarding experiences. During his forty years in educa- tion, Dr. Swingley received his B.A. Degree from Ball State Teachers College in 1928. To further his education, he attended the University of Chicago where he earned a Masters Degree and finally a Doctors Degree in 1950. Dr. Swingley has many and varied hobbies as well as being most active, in high regard, in local, civic and profession- al groups. Among his many awards and achievements are vice-president and national representative of the Boy Scouts of America and Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis in this area. The Class of 1963 will well remember a man that has ded- icated his life to the young people of Edison High School. 3
