June 4, 1963 In September, 1959, we entered through the doors of Edison High School as Freshmen. This was our first experience as high school students, and the beginning of a four year span which led to triumphs, defeats, tears, and joy. Under the leadership of George Klinger, our Freshman Class President, many new experiences were encountered for the first time. Long remember- ed will be our first dance, Fashion Flair,” in the school gymnasium. We ended a successful Freshman year eagerly looking forward toward our Sophomore year. As Sophomores, with Alice Vela leading the way, we continued on with our various money making projects. Many of us ordered, received, and showed-off our class rings this year. Marshall Rankin was chosen to be class president our Junior year. Most of our time was devoted toward raising money for the prom. The big day finally arrived, May 4, 1962, the day for which we had all worked so hard. The scene was the Crystal Ballroom of the Hotel Gary, and the theme was Moonlight Enchantment.” Ed Nalborczyk was selected to lead us through our final year of high school, the year which we had all eagerly anticipated, but hated to see go by so fast. As Seniors, we had numerous activities; senior pictures, ordering of announcements, measurement for caps and gowns, and student teaching which proved an unnerving but deeply rewarding experience. The climax of four years of struggle and strain was finally coming into our view. There was Class Day, Baccalaureate, and finally GRADUATION, June 4, 1963! Many of us will never forget that feeling as we sat on the stage of Memorial Auditorium that night. Smiles, tears, sighs, and frowns accom- panied a review of happy and sad experiences as memories of four years of vigorous activities were recalled by the graduating seniors. We are now on our own, not as a group, but as individuals who will strive and look forward to a future full of success and happiness!
