l Defensiveman, Dan Moyer tries his hand on the ball. Successful Season Under the guidance of first year Coach Frank Sberna, the freshman football team wound up with a 5-1-1 record. The frosh started with a flurish, then had a little let down, and back up again. The young Chargers were victorious over Huron, lVlapleton, Willard, Columbia, and Norwalk. They tied the New London freshman team 6-6. The team's only loss was a 6-12 defeat to Clyde. The freshmen completely dominated the other teams point wise. They scored one hundred thirteen points compared to their opponents eighteen. They registered five shutouts of their seven games. Jeff Spradlin, the leading scorer, made thiry-eight points. The Chargers, undefeated at home, fielded a well balanced offense between the running and passing game. In the home game against Columbia, Edison rolled up to a 21-O half time lead before coasting to a 28-0 victory over the Raiders. Nlost of the credit for the good season goes to the defense.
