QF? Q .sf 7' ,af I5 fs, . 1 Ny Music Concerts and Competition A very active area of this school was the music department, performing over 30 con- certs. The year saw many competitions and contests in the areas of band and choir, as well as concerts given by the music depart- ment as a whole. The Nlarching Band this year had a bright modern look that helped evoke school spirit at the football games. Songs like l Feel The Earth lVlove by Carole King and Niac- Arthur's Park by Jimmy Webb set the pace for a lively Marching Band. The band was proud also to compete at the Ohio State Fair. Stage Band increased membership to 27 members and added the sound of an electric piano as they switched from music by CHICAGO to BLOOD, SWEAT, and TEARS and GEORGE HARRISON. TOP: Christmas concert a huge success. MIDDLE: Woodwind section of orchestra makes melodious music. BO'l'l'OlVl: Con- cert.

I -.I QE Creativity a Milestone The highest purpose is to have no purpose at all. This puts one in accord with nature, in her manner of operation. -John Cage This summarizes the feelings of art classes this year as they used tools and materials of art in her manner of operation. The art show clearly conveyed this feeling of self-expression and limitless creation. ln addition to creating art, stu- dents had the opportunity to see and appreciate the art of others. Art I and ll bussed to the Toledo Nluseum of Art to see the museum tour, while Art Ill and IV zipped over to the Cleveland Art lVluseum to see Swedish Textiles, and a special treat: The Smith College Collection of Nlasters' Unfinished Paintings. Mrs. Lavonne Satterfield be- lieves art's main objective is to keep the creative mind alive. UPPER RIGHT: Wayne Whitehead looks on as Mike Poyer poses for drawing au natural. Home Economics: Girls and Boys -.Ti-1: .L'? m Boys are cooking, sewing and knitting? What's this school com- ing to? Its senses. For years boys have never known how to do these things, and for years the bachelor life has been somewhat trying at times. There were serious and humorous times this year as when one boy put baking soda instead of baking powder in his cake, keeping if from rising. All in all, though, it was relevant educa- tion. lt was something that they would use later in life? Home Economics I, ll, Ill, and IV also received relevant educa- tion in foods and nutrition, clothing, child development, per- sonality development, and interior decorating. Nlrs. Rosemary Finnen and Miss Linda Friend provided another year of very useful opportunities. UPPER LEFT: Mary Followay gets ready to sew. UPPER RIGHT: Dale Weitzel sewing . . . a pin cushion!
