New Instructional Materials Added Approximately two hundred and fifty new books were added to the library this year at a cost of twelve hundred dollars. Nlrs. Jacqueline Roscoe and other faculty members were responsible for choosing the books along with other instructional material such as filmstrips, tapes, cassettes, and records. The areas of government and science were especially built up. A volume of The World Book Encyclopedia was also added. Fifty-five magazine titles were subscribed to as well as the NATIONAL OBSERVER, the SANDUS- KY REGISTER, and the CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER. To augment the instructional material, and needs of the teacher, audio visual equipment was also added and kept in the library. Students were also known to make use of the varied pieces of equipment for class projects and extracurricular activity. Paper back books were also available this year. The library was not only a source of study it was also used for the quiet conversation of students who could not sit in the sometimes overcrowded student lounge. Senior Government Holds Convention V TOP LEFT: Rick Gundlack, a Vietnam veteran, talked to the student body on Veterans' Day as C. B. Sanders, principal, and Francis O'Don- nell look on. ABOVE: Cheryl Gadd and Terri Poling wait for their introduction to social studies class to start. RIGHT: Tom Klepper and Mike Smith look on as Nlr. John Feyedelem lectures to an American history class. One of the prime items which occurred in history classes this year were the conventions and election which the senior government class held. Three parties contributed to the election, the Nationalist, the Federalist, and the American Peoples Party KAPPJ. The John Cooke-John Zadell ticket took honors for the APP when they made an overwhelming vic- tory on November 7 against their opponents, Richard Peabody, Federalist, and Ralph O'Hara, Nationalist, winning the election by over 100 votes. Nlr. Richard Taylor, new on the faculty, assisted lVlr. John Feyedelem on this project. lVlr. Taylor also taught world history, civics, and psychology and sociology. Miss Phyllis Frost taught introduction to social studies. Group discussions were the major source of teachings there. She hoped the students learned more from the discussions than from lecturing. Seniors used NEWSWEEK magazine as one of their textbooks throughout the year.
