Bad Weather Stops Skiers This Year One might say that this year's Ski Club was all but washed up. Although many students were in- terested in the club, the weather wasn't. Only a few trips were made down to the lVlans- field slopes, but the students and teachers still enjoyed themselves. Under the supervision of club adviser, lVlr. Dixon lVliIler, the club still turned out to be a success, despite the weather. With a mini- mum of injuries, the snow and cold wind in their face, rushing down the slopes became a reality for many happy people. One event held at the last trip was the speed race with Chuckie Swineford winning it with a time of 11.4. Tom Sanders came in second with 11.8. S,s, M, v-L, -X., -4 ' 23: For the interested girls at Edison High, the school provides basketball and volleyball, through an organization called GAA, which stands for Girls' Athletic Association. GAA is no different than playing basketball or volleyball on any other team, for both these sports are played in GAA organized groups. The basketball and volleyball teams travel to other schools and play as a group with only qualified girls. Mrs. Martha Vartorella is the head coach and adviser of the group. Several awards were presented on Awards Day to the out- standing members of GAA. Ann Heckelman, junior, and Linda Lake, juniorg received their GAA letters for accumu- lating 6,000 points each. These points are accumulated throughout one's entire high school career in GAA to receive an award. Jo received her GAA numerals. Many of the fresh- man and sophomore members of GAA received their first and second year awards. LEFT: Scrimmage in the gym. Chargerettes Help Team Win The .Chargerettes were added to the wrestling program sea- son this year to give the team the support they needed for a fine season. These selected girls sold tickets and kept the wrestling records at all the home wrestling meets. They worked hard on compiling enough information to make scrapbooks for all the senior members. They had some money-raising projects such as a pancake supper and a car wash before the prom. Under the supenlision of wrestling coach, Mr. Dave Kile, the officers for the initial year were Kathy Likes, president, Cindy Gliatta, vice-president: Judy Einerson, secretary: and Michelle Schaffer, treasurer.
