H M21 ltr ul if Eikfifxn J' W .tg The Edison Marching Band stated the 1972-73 school year at Band Camp in August. During their week stay, Mr. Nick Georgiafandis, director, super- vised the practicing for the competition at the Ohio State Fair, where the Band received an outstanding performance award. The marching band performed in many parades, including the Milan Melon Festival Parade and the Berlin Heights Harvest Festival Parade. Edison's Symphonic Band performed at the Christ- mas Concert, followed by the Winter Concert, and the Spring Concert. Sounds of Christmas 1972 was the title for the Christmas concert with the combined band and choir for Handel's Halleluhia Chorus. Other songs were representative of both popular and Biblical numbers. Winter Concert featured a trombone trio of Dave Gillard, Judy Einerson, and Trish Delamatre in the Slide Kicks. Gene Fernandez was featured on drums in Three Dog Night and Shaft Other songs performed were on the more contemporary side. Spring Concert featured a trumpet trio of Jack Meyers, Wayne McCoy, and Kathy Murray in the song Bugler's Holiday. Jeff Einerson was also featured on the piano in the musical comedy number Slaugh- ter on Tenth Avenue. Dixieland Band consisting of Laura Wallrabenstein, clarinetg Susan Garwood, tenor saxophone: Jack Meyers, trumpet, Dave Gillard, tromboneg Kurt Hansen, bass, and Gene Fernandez, percussion in the Warrington tune entitled Dixieland Jamboree . Officers elected this year for Band were Paul Phil- lips, president, Jack Meyers, vice-presidentp and Lindy Agee, secretary-treasurer. Majorettes were Susan Garwood, head, Karen y Myers, Kim Buehrle, Vicki Taylor, and Linda Boose. TOP LEFT: Symphonic Band participates in the Veterans' Day Cere- mony. MIDDLE: The marching band performs again on a rainy school field. BOTTOM LEFT: Nick Georgiafandis directs the symphonic band during the Christmas Concert. 7

The Cheerleaders and Pep Club worked hand in hand throughout the year to get support from the student body. ln the summer the cheerleaders attended a national camp at Robert Morris College and were awarded the title of most spirited squad there. Varsity cheerleader Shelley Obermiller received her four year award at the banquet April 13. The Pep Club had new uniforms this year and sup- ported the team both at home and away. ln order to be a cheerleader a girl must be in Pep Club. Bev Weilnau was president this year and was helped by adviser, lVlrs. Martha Vartorella.
