Science Members Become Active Interested students made Science Club a reality this year. The club started uncer- tainly but gained enthusiasm as the year progressed and became enjoyable as well as educational. Under the supervision of advisers IVlr. Ted Stoll, Nlr. David Grimm, and IVIr. Howard Yunghans, Science Club set out to learn things through experience. In October a number of members hiked along the Huron River near Blue Bridge collecting tree samples for identification to aid state officials in considering this area for a state park. Other projects in- cluded visiting New Departure to observe the electron microscope and computer system, a liquid nitrogen lecture, an ex- hibition by NASA and many other lec- tures and slides throughout the year. Officers elected at the beginning of the school year were Greg Hire, president, Kyle Hennings, vice presidentp and Janet Swicker, secretary-treasurer. Science Club was initiated to give the interested science student a better under- standing of the subject and give him a chance outside of regular school work to experiment on his own.
