Edison Council Sold Flyer T Shirts Send a mouse to college began the busy year of activities for the Student Council. The drive was sponsored by the American Cancer Society and was successful in raising over S200 for the cause. After such annual events as Homecoming, the Council undertook a Spirit Raising Campaign and sold Beat Flyers T-shirts on the week of the Norwalk St. Paul football game. Veteran's Day came and the Council decided to do something a little different. The program began with the Sandusky Ex- change Club dedicating the Freedom Shrine which has found its place of rest on the west cafeteria wall. Next Mr. Richard Meyers presented to the student body the flag that was laid on his father's casket. The flag is now displayed in the gym. The stu- dents were then dismissed to windy wet weather that awaited them outside. Here the combined Berlin and Milan American Legions presented a flag which was raised over the Rt. 113 build- ing, to the music of the Star Spangled Banner performed by the Edison Marching Band. The day was highlighted by the late arrival of the guest speaker, Richard Gundlach, a Vietnam veteran. The Council ended its year on Awards Day. The members introduced all the speakers and during lunch sold ice-cream and popsicles. The Council officers for this year were Gene Fernan- dez, presidentp Dan Hutchinson, vice president, Jacque Foos, sec- retary, John Zadell, treasurer, and Mr. Mike Schifer was the ad- viser.
