The opening game found tiie team crushing Calumet 33-0. After a close loss to arch rival River Forest, the team rebounded to beat East Chicago Washington 12-6. The Eagles played well three weeks in a row but came up empty, especially against triple A playoff bound Kankakee Valley. During that game the team had a touchdown called back and eventually lost in overtime 7-6. Returning the favor the Eagles defeated Clark in a double overtime thriller 18-12. The football program will miss seniors Wadding (Q.B., all conference and all area punter), Sheppard (captain and linebacker), Lewandowski (wide receiver), Thompson (leading tackier), and Stills (tackle). Even with these players gone the coaching staff is looking for an improved 85 team. -Coach Peterson Shane Evans takes a water break. Chet Lewandowski confers wi th Coach Dorulla. In addition to a regular season with no defeats they also won two invitational tournaments. One of their biggest accomplishments was to win the Highland Doubles Invitational out out of a 14-team draw. The team consisted of six seniors and one sophomore . In number one singles, John Dube (right) earned a perfect 14-0 record while number two singles Bill Fazekas and number three singles Chris Kayes each posted a 13-1 record. I felt, despite a 5-11 var sity record, our team showed a desire to compete against a strong schedule; and a majority of our players took losing very hard.
