77-78 Junior Miss The 1977 Junior Miss Pageant was an exciting time for all girls who entered the competition . There were seven weeks of practice for the girls ' physical fitness routines . At first there were aching muscles but also many hours of fun. The girls were treated to a banquet at the Ramada Inn where they were interviewed by the judges . At last the final two nights of the pageant arrived . The girls made a striking appearance in their evening gowns. The contestants ' scores were based on talent, poise and appearance , scholastic averages , physical fitness and judges ' interviews . The audience seemed to enjoy the various talents presented . Excitement mounted as people mentally made their choice . It was a thrilling moment as Karen Kurzdorfer accepted the crown of Junior Miss 1977-78 from Michelle Scheuer, 1976-77 Junior Miss. Sweetheart Dance Top: Sweetheart Court and Escorts: Tina Lynch and Greg Brant, Patty Vizena and Vernon Handley, Vicky Maretich and Mike Watts, Sue Rosser and Tom Mosley, Sandy Reames and Scott Cherry. The annual Sweetheart Dance was held March 3rd after being postponed for a week due to the energy crisis . The formal dance was sponsored by the Student Council . Sixty dazzling couples attended the event . Highlighting the evening was the crowning of Tina Lynch as Sweetheart Queen. Music was provided by Zeara and photographs were taken by Lewis Color Studios of Portage . Those who attended had a pleasant evening surrounded by good music , lovely decorations , and couples dressed in their best. 12
