77-78 Junior Miss The 1977 Junior Miss Pageant was an exciting time for all girls who entered the competition . There were seven weeks of practice for the girls ' physical fitness routines . At first there were aching muscles but also many hours of fun. The girls were treated to a banquet at the Ramada Inn where they were interviewed by the judges . At last the final two nights of the pageant arrived . The girls made a striking appearance in their evening gowns. The contestants ' scores were based on talent, poise and appearance , scholastic averages , physical fitness and judges ' interviews . The audience seemed to enjoy the various talents presented . Excitement mounted as people mentally made their choice . It was a thrilling moment as Karen Kurzdorfer accepted the crown of Junior Miss 1977-78 from Michelle Scheuer, 1976-77 Junior Miss.
