For each student the year held memories to cherish or maybe inci- dents to forget. These memories will linger but the year is gone. Seniors can boast with pride over accomplish- ments or sigh with regret over wasted moments. Underclassmen will have other years. Years for . . . meeting new friends, learning new con- cepts, honors, Homecomings, dating, a chance to reach the rank of senior. It was a year to remember . . . cheering at the games, winning and losing, dancing with some- one special, joining clubs, writing term papers and cramming for finals, enduring or enjoying classes. The year passed and we will remember it. 6 Getting Acquainted 11 12 14 15 18 . 19 IFW 21 That Was, The Week That Was Homecoming candidates await the big moment. The Bon Fire a time to rally spirits, LEFT TO RIGHT are Dan Witka, Del Courtney, and Pat Witka. Homecoming is the time of year when students display their school spirit. In spite of the bad weather, the queen candidates, Lori Lehto, Kathy Mucha, Natalie Mayoch, Debbie Smen- yak, and Vicki Reames looked ravishing as they were escorted onto the field. Kathy Mucha was chosen queen and received many congratulations from family and friends. The festivities of the Homecoming Dance revolved around a large tree adorned with multi-colored paper leaves containing the names of each couple. The Homecoming dance an end of a busy week, is enjoyed by La Fonda Morrill, Sam Watts, Terri Lee, and Darrell Hampton. Sweetheart Queen And Court: L. Krupchak escorts D. Bildilli, M. Melodee Heims does her thing. The Roaring 20’s Dance sponsored by the Science Club presents one of the social highlights of the year. This gala affair allows the students of EHS to retreat to the past when the Charleston, marathon dances, bootleg liquor and gangsters were at their peaks. The “Pulsating Rhythm” played music for dancing. Rick Neal and Ruth Ballard were the best dressed. What do ya’ think of that?” Sherril Larimore cunningly remarks to Ron Rambo. Students frequent the carnival stands. The mouse game operated by Coach Vlasicand Coach Pohlman. Clubs Profit From School Carnival The annual school carnival was held on November 14. All booths were set up and ready to operate by 4:30 pm. The individual organizations had two students and their sponsor present at all times to accept money from the public. The organizations had no booth commitment except to dismantle it at the end of the carnival. Peek-a-Boo,” replied Sharon Mischan. Pick a duck and win a prize. Because of their hard work, the new class flags are proudly displayed in the gym and the class jerseys are worn by students boasting of their year of graduation. The colors are Seniors: Black and Gold; Juniors: Blue and Gold; Sophomores: Red and White; Freshmen: Green and White. One of the main projects of the Student Council was the presentation of the annual Homecoming Dance, “Au- tumn Enchantment.” The highlight of the dance was the large multi-colored tree with each leaf bearing the names of the couples in attendance. Perhaps, even more impor- tant, was the Student Council’s ability to co-ordinate the activities between students, faculty, and administration. Student Council Officers: B. Steen, pres.; B. The juniors returned to EHS eager to face the coming year. Their school spirit was evident when they tied with the freshman class in the annual float competition for first place. The float motto was “Hang ’em High.” The class of ' 71 sponsored car washes and bake sales as they anticipated prom expenses. After much considera- tion they agreed on “Three coins in the Fountain” as a theme. This dance offered a romantic time for all. As the year closes the juniors are ready to be next year’s seniors. Shown admiring their work are Shellie Holman and Terry Lee. Homeroom Representatives of the Sophomore class are: Pam Waggle, Mike Lewandowski, Bob Dobrowolski, and Tom Hodge. The sophomore soon realizes that school is not for play- ing around . . . but for getting in some serious studying. He starts thinking about college and choosing his curric- ulum to match future plans. With learner’s permit firmly in hand the sophomores walked into their drivers education class for the very first time. Tackling World History and Geometry makes for a hec- tic pace and kept the sophomores hopping. All hardships were softened by ordering class rings, an insignia of graduation. The freshman year is for getting adjusted to hectic sched- ules, making new friends, learning new ideas, throwing away old habits, and being low men on the totem pole. It was a year to remember for freshmen. First came G.A.A. initiation . . . smelly fish, pigtails, baby diapers, skits and the hot dog roast. Then came Homecoming . . . a first place float, but a last place hall, streamers fell and the floor was cluttered with signs. Last came the end of the year and sophomore status with new people on bottom.
