7! The Turtles had a good season this year and owe much of it to the fact that Ken Westlake was coaching. It was his coaching, helping, and exam- ple that pointed the way to the fine season we engoyed The County this year was divided into two parts East and West with the winner of the East playing the winner of the West for the County Cup, and also, the cup received for the champ- ionship division The Turtle Quintet st rted the league Dames with uch vigor that it was apparent we were Doing places Soon Edlnboro met Girard with both teams being tied first place in the East rn section Here a streak of bad luck hit the Turtles and we lost 24 21, followed by loosing 15 10 to Waterford, however, we came out sec ond WWW This year, Edinboro was invited to attend the yearly Waterford Tourna ment together with seven other teams of the county The very first night we suffered a defeat of 28 23 to West Springfield, it was followed by hit ting Cambridge 29 14, thus clinching the consolation trophy, with Albion in the championship clinch Han on was selected as the second Waterford first and Hellyer and Cry der of Albion third and fourth The contest for the honor of repre- senting the Eastern division in the county play-off was held in our College Gym. Here the Turtle Quintet lost 25 20 to the Albion team, which won the contest by defeating Girard. Since Edinboro and Cambridge had been evenly matched, the two teams played one game at each home school for the benefit of the Red Cross The Tur tles defeated Cambridge in both games and the Red Cross netted Q79 25 on the two games The highest scoring honor th s gear goes to Vere Woods, who totaled 196 points Second is Martin Hecker with 123 points and then Leroy Hanson with 121 markers The rest f the boys did a fine Job in support ine these three and in making the team click and produce the results we received 7 Hanson selected for the all tournament first team,and Woods was se lected for the second team Some of the trophies were not pre sented and will be delivered later t the winners. Although the season is now offic ially over, there will be an Alumnae Game and possibly a Senior Underclass xmngwms a season qust as pro perous and v1c torious as this venr mm?
