HISTORY Old THE CLASS Ol 1956 Had you been near the Edgewood School on September 4 194-l you mlght have w1t nessed the beglnnlng of thls class hlstory Hou would have seen a long le gge d youngster belng led to school by hls mother That would have been Jerry Holtz You would also have seen a chubby llttle fellow belng urged toward the school house by hls mother and that would have been Larry Madlam And so they came When they had all assembled the roll contalned the followmg names Gary Carmcle Clark McCallum Charles Denms Kenneth lfaust Gary Hartbeck Terry Holtz Shlrley Kepplcr Lanny Kramer Jane Lew1s Larry Madlom Bette Hamlett Dexter Hyde and Jeanette Jewell The tc acher was Mrs Allen Durmg the se cond grade Mrs Stensbol was the teacher and the class lost Kenneth l aust and Jeanette Jewell but ga1ned Myrna Possehl Myrtle Southwlck and Mary Jo Sharp The class moved 1nto a new room to enter grade three The new teacher was Mlss Donna Orr and Daryl Hochhaus yolned the class wh1le Clark McCallum left lt Mlss Orr changed her name to Mrs Day Welterlen for our fourth grade year and Shlrley Keppler and Charles Dennls were dropped from the roll Our flfth grade teacher was Mrs Esthng and we had changed rooms agaln and also added two new class members Leah Morley and Dean Tucker We also had Mrs Est llng for the slxth grade and added s1x members to the class namely Gordon Anderegg Barbara Clemen Jerry Lee Lawerence Lee James Wllcox and Terry Prlce Mrs Nona Zearley was our teacher ln both the seventh and e1ghth grades Thls was a new experlence for us as we now moved upstalrs James Wllcox and Terry PFICL left us durmg the seventh year and we were Jomed by Larry Ash Bonny Rlzer Clalr l annon Kerry Rlzer Jo Ann Smock lla Lee Totman and Kenneth Tucker Marlan Wagner and Van1ta Rldenour Jomed us 1n grade elght and Kenneth Tucker moved away Dexter Hyde left us before we started hlgh school to go to school 1n Colesburg and Barbara Clemen also moved away but slxteen new faces appeared Kent Baker Sheldon Bassett Carole Coonfare Gerald Funk -George Hagenslck Bruce Hochhaus Janlce Klosterman Kenneth Kramer Loulse Phelps Betty Rodas V1rg1n1a Stephensen Haryey Straus Reynold Tegeler Esther Uhlenkamp Roger Waterman and Glorla Wessel Our class sponsors were Mr Dally and Mlss Brown Our sponsors for our sophomore year were Mr Brase and Mr Burton Dexter Hyde returned to JOIN the class agaln the last semester and we lost Glorla Wessel Marlan Wagner Carole Coonfare Gerald Funk Loulse Phelps Van1ta Rldenour V1rg1n1a Steph enson and Jo Ann Smock We also added Jeanette Wh1tehead Ehas Faust J1m Baker and Bernard 1+ angman No one entered the class durmg ouryumor year but we lost Lanny Kramer and Ehas Faust Mlss Swede and Mr Sander were our sponsors The twelfth grade found Dean Tucker absent from the roll Mr Randall and Mr Chnstensen became our sponsors Th1s y ar was h1ghl1ghted by the Ch1cago trxp whlch we had been looklng forward to for years The followmg named senlors have had the1r entlre twelve years of educatlon ln the Edgewood School Gary Carnlcle Gary Hartbeck Jerry Holtz Jane Lew1s Larry Madlom and Bette Hamlett Thus the hlstory of the Class of 1956 comes to an end We hold the d1st1nct1on ofbemg th largest class ever to graduate from the Edgewood School Many of our members have been promment 1n athletlcs musxc dramatlcs and other extra curr1cu1ar act1v1t1es On l'r1day evenmg May 18 we were launched who knows where we may anchor I for one hope for smooth Salllflg and anchorage 111 safe harbors Gordon Anderegg 1 - 1 , .
