Arnaud Superintendent of Edgewood Schools More and more the citizens of the United States are being called upon to do real down-to-earth, fundamental thinking on their own part. The very air around us stirs with opposing ideas: What is Communism? What do we mean by un- Americanism? Wlmat does Democracy really mean? Is Fascism better than Com- munism? Right in our own neighborhood San Antonians need seriously to consider the civic problems which must be solved if we are to have a growing, vibrant, living city. High school students should interest themselves in the problems of the day. They should study the history of the years past in order to have a basis for sharing responsibility in facing the crises of today and tomorrow. They should remember that education does not cease when they are graduated. Alert, thinking graduates will continue to study. They will accept the call for needed leadership in the community. They will intelligently work with other lead- ers. Xllfhen they do this, there will be no danger to our principles of Christianity and Democracy. L. to R. Qseatedj H. A. Haase, President E. D.
