LefrRghrJJ r r Gol In response to Coach Wilke s call for an elimination round fourteen golfers teed off at the Westmoreland Country Club for a nine hole match This field led by Joe Holt consisted of john Jamieson Bob Straub B1ll Cantwell john Cantwell john Byrns Vic Ripp Vic Kleinheinz Egg Wiese B1llF1gy Bob Conners Phil Grosse and Bob Goeden Captain Joe Holt led the field with a 40 oe has already had a year of John Jamieson ran second with a close 41 A newcomer john plays a steady game highly elaborated by good putting Bill Cantwell turned in a low score winning his berth as third man Fourth position brought a hard fought contest with Straub nosing out Figy a favorite one up The last post however necessitated another playoff with Bill Kelly shooting ex quisite golf to shake off his hard pressing opponents Figy and Straub in a nine hole match We have one victory already to our credit an encounter with Lake Mills who tasted defeat April 27 by a score of I2 o Feeling slightly con fident with this win Coach Wilke is attempting to schedule matches with East Central West and Wisconsin High in the city as also with Monroe and Evansville The Alumni will be the competition in a playoff scheduled for April 2Q at the Nakoma Country Club The alumni consisting of former Maroon golf stars such as Bob Buergin Phil Schwartz Ben Lynaugh and B1ll Holt have a team that will prove quite an obstacle for the school golfers The Edgewood Echo P g 74 t 0 i : . amieson, R.
