The School -- Edgevx ood l'l1gh School ot the Sacred Heart stands on a shvht h1ll overlook1ng Lake Vkmgra one of Mad1sons four p1cturesque lakes The spac1ous grounds and beaut1rul bu1ld1ng oller a pleasmg env1ronment md an 1ncent1xc to good study The school has grown w1th sur pI'1S1Ilg rap1d1ty and at present numbers about two hundred 1nd seventy stu dents Last year rounded oil the hltleth year of the schools ex1stence wh1ch was commemorated by a pageant g1V6I1 on May lZl11I'lIyl'1I'Slf by the ent1re stu dent body Staged on the black marble steps of the recently completed new bU1ld1Hg the pageant portrayed every 1mportant event 1n the h1story of the school The costum1ng was gorgeous and the mus1c carr1ed to the yast aud1ence was sweet and 1nsp1r1ng typ1fy1ng the sp1r1t of Edgewood It 15 an 1nterest1ng co1nc1dence that Albert Kelsey arch1tect for the h1gh school 15 the grandson of Governor Washburn The exter1or of the blllldlllg 15 very str1k1ng cream colored br1ck w1th black and wh1te tr1m The 1nscr1pt1on aboxe the arched doorvxay Laudare bened1cere prae The Ofce d1care IS the motto of the order ofSa1nt Dom1n1c The school IS part1cularly fortunate IU hav1ng an extens1ve campus whlch makes poss1ble many act1v1t1es The students enjoy a large pract1ce held a newly completed gr1d1ron two tenn1s courts and several baseball d1amonds The bu1ld1ng 15 large and complete In add1t1on to the class rooms and assembl1es two vnell equ1pped laborator1es a l1brary conta1n1ng an extraord1nar1ly large collect1on of volumes carefully selected for general reference a large gymnas1um and several recreat1onal rooms prow 1de opportun1ty for every typ o work and play Lectures and concerts g1ven by em1nent art1sts supplement the regular work of the school and are both educat1onal and cultural A retreat 15 held every year and g1x es the students an opportun1ty to put 1nto pract1ce the rel1g1ous tra1n1ng they haxe rece1x ed Work1ng play1ng praylng together br1ng the students 1r to closer un1on w1th one another and makes Edgewood a last1ng 1nflue1 ce 1n the1r lu es 1 Lt!
