In later years, while turning these pages, if you should recall the many smiles, sorrows, and dreams of this year, we have done the thing we were colled upon to do. It is not ortly today that you will appreciate the Aurigan. Tomorrow, when !t is not so easy to think bcKk on ill treasure the STRICTLY IN- -= - ' ■ ' book has stored CONl ACTIVITIES SPORTS ORGANIZATION CLAS, FAClllTY ENTS We dedicate the 1964 Aurigan to two The theme of the 1964 Aurigan spotlights Trojan Activities. For the dedication we wanted to find the person who spotlighted Trojan Ac- tivities: the person who has made the most significant contribution in encouraging, supporting and or- ganizing student activities. So often only a casual thanks is given to one who contributes so much to student life; this year we wanted to do more than say thanks. We felt that we could show our ap- preciation in a more definite way through the 1964 Aurigan. To Mrs. Phyllis Stronach; to Mr. John Tere- sa, we proudly dedicate the 1964 Aurigan! people who are themselves dedicated. When Edgewood High School became a reality in September of 1958, Mrs. Stronach was appointed one of the As- sistant Principals. An important responsi- bility assigned to her was administrative supervisor for the organization and direc- tion of student activities. During Edgewood ' s first year, Mr. Teresa taught algebra, business training, and leadership; he also coached the track team and advised the newspaper. The following year he became the full time Director of Student Activities. Working together for the past four years, Mrs. Stronach and Mr. Teresa have been instrumental in changing the confu- sion and disorganization of a new school into a well organized, smooth function- ing student community with co-curricular activities covering oil interests and abil- ities. Although we tend to credit Trojan Traditions to our student leaders of the past and present, in reality much of the credit belongs to- these two educators who have encouraged and promoted the many activities that allow us to present this STRICTLY INFORMAL view of student life at Edgewood High School. ' The Winnah. i - i 207 I Joe Knight (Color him exhausted) A high school yearbook is more than a collec- tion of the year ' s events in pictures. A yearbook represents almost a whole year in a student ' s life. Memories of this past year, both sad and happy, are captured in the preceding pages so that we may bring a revision of the past. The events of the past year have awakened people to the fact that life is real and, like a fan- tasy dream, it can be shattered in a matter of a few seconds. Still we must go on living our daily lives, and face up to this still new, still unexplored future. So, as we say farewell to another year, and look forward with hunger for the new and un- explored, this yearbook can take you back to the past of your STRICTLY INFORMAL, strictly-in- formal high school career. The 1964 Aurigan introduces some changes that we hope enhance the book. We fee! that the changes in the faculty, the club, and the sports sections will be of interest to all. The Aurigan is also introducing the Edgewood High School official school seal, designed by Patti Dougherty. I dare not close until I pass on a few words of well deserved appreciation. No editor could want or ask for a better, more productive, more conscientious staff. They re- sponded to the point above and beyond the call of duty. They are the people who are responsible for the yearbook. Our hard-working photographer, Jim Polk, deserves more than just a mere thanks, but he realizes and understands the part he played in the production of this yearbook, and how much it was appreciated. And, of course, our yearbook advisor. Van Dunahoo. There is not enough thanks in my heart to display my full appreciation. He has become more than an advisor or teacher to me, and I will always remember the wonderful contribution he made. I hope the yearbook has lived up to all ex- pectations and gives you a feeling of pride so when you show it to someone you can say, This is OUR yearbook! - M- Editor 1 : o-h ff ' - M r )v.
