ythms Blend Into A World Of Sound Com osed of the Smooth Tones of Contempldtion Enthusiastic sounds reverberated throughout the days of spirited Eagles to make this year of 1960, one we will always remember. Early in the year, we found ourselves listening with pride to our EHS band rehearse for its numerous precision half-time shows. While learning new cheers and practicing old ones, our vivacious cheerleaders transmitted to us spirit for our victorious Eagle team. The popping of hydrogen which produced a wild shriek from the girls in the chemistry labs, the clicking of typewriters, the indistinguishable words heard from the many lan- guage classes, or occasionally the deep solitude of con- centration were bur a small portion of the sounds which echoed through the halls of Edgewater. Scholarship was stressed as never before. Ratings on National Merits and College Boards exceeded every previous EHS record. Because of the interest in erudition, juniors participated in the Preliminary Scholastic Apti- tude Tests. They were also offered, as were the sopho- mores, a course in reading which proved to be a great aid in all of their classes. Every Tuesday and Thursday nights the Edgewater library remained open for two hours so that energetic Eagles could easily find books for book reports, do research for themes, and enjoy a place to study away from homes. Problems, weekly tests, semester exams, themes, and daily studies kept the students en- gaged in countless hours of deep, silent concentration. une -ITIINU E el'IO 65 SP6 SGBTC IH OI' e COITGC GHSWBI' Complefely engrossed in ihe semester exam in Algebra III, these s+udenfs remain after the n fy 1' p cl d p 'Hy h g 'F H1 1'
