Herman was his name. At least that's what the biology classes of '57 called that squirmy skeleton in the closet. He represented the most complex and most interesting of the biology topics-the human body. Our resourceful English department used varied methods to make learning interesting, such as discus- sions. panels, lectures, and speakers. 'lihemes and special projects were required to cajole us into using the skills of research. Xlovies added a personal touch to the lives of authors. Ivanhoe, The Red Badge of Courage, and The Egyptian kept the hooks of the same names off of the library shelves for many weeks. 'llhrough creative writing, we learned to analyze and appreciate an author's style and skill as well as to criticize and improve our own. Our Eng- lish teachers sent us on our way, as the year closed, well-rounded in grammar, literature, and COIN- position. ryv.-'f--effrfffar we ., .L I AV, . ,y ly NJ 1 I I
