011 What And what a year it was! Ex- citement and surprise made the 84-85 school year one to remember. The year brought new insight to parking lot at- tendants, clothes, hair styles, rules and regulations, classes, sports and clubs. The student body contributed the most to this fascinating school year. Fall came, school began, and everyone finally realized that their summer was over. The first real surprise of the year came quickly. Students were told it would no longer be free to park in the student parking lot. There was going to be a charge of twenty dollars a semester. Without the sticker purchased in the front window, the students, car could be ticketed and tow- 2 i OPENING ed, at the owners expense. There were a few complaints but, eventually everyone pretty much got used to the idea. The fall also brought new fashions for both guys and girls. Sometimes the fashion for guys and girls was so similar it didnit matter who wore what. Of course, there was the traditional jeans and sweatshirts but, what about the flourescent shirts, pants and shoes worn mainly by the girls. The guys, it seemed, became more aware of fashion. They spent more money and time picking out their wardrobes. Guys wore baggy pants, big sweaters and the traditional clothes. Girls wore anything from boxers to a Year! long underwear, full skirts to tight dresses and traditional outfits to all out new wave or punk outfits. Throughout the whole year fashion was new and exciting with the theme on individuality. Interscholastic competition during the fall season was overall successful. There was the introduction of two new teams this year. First, was the girls soccer team. With a varying level of skills on the team, the girls did very well.

The second addition was the math team. With practices and competition difficult, the new math team also did well. The traditional competitions such as; football, volleyball, band, soccer, cross country running and swimming also had good seasons. Soon winter was upon the school and the cold was felt everywhere. Even with the crowded halls the school seemed cold. Most of the sports were started and doing well by the time winter break rolled around. Many surprises enlightened the student body during winter. Lunch was a new surprise when the school introduced a new ethnic line of food. There were entrees from Italy, China and Mexico. The cost of the ethnic food was a dollar- fifty for an entre, sidedish, bread and milk. When the new food line came out, it seemed as though there was never enough food for everyone. But eventually the students didnat eat as much of the ethnic food. Then there was enough for everyone. Something else new was also introduced at lunch time. The administration decided to abolish the token system. No one knows exactly why the i6Arne Chipil disappeared, but it was rumored that there werenlt enough tokens for all the students. Winter competition also did well the past year. Hockey, basketball, one-acts, skiing and all other sports had at least a fair season. Some sports had better seasons than others. There was much Eagle spirit backing all competition throughout the school. The middle of winter hit the school hard. There were temperatures in the negatives and not much was happening. Everyone began to dream of their own spring break and what they were going to do. Before they knew what hap- pened spring break was over and the fourth quarter began. Fashion last spring was as interesting as the new fall fashions. Everyone was wear- ing their own individual outfits. The snow melted and spr- ing was hopping. The spring play began as did the spring sports. There was promise for the play, golf, track, tennis, baseball and softball teams. Spring also brought the ex- citement and tension of prom and graduation. Couples were excited about going to prom while others who didnlt have dates felt the tension of whether they would end up going or not. After everyone made it through prom, the seniors realized they had only about a month of high school left. Tension built as they prayed to pass all their classes. Excitement grew for that ceremony that ends their high school career. Overall the 84-85 school year was one to be proud of. Congratulations to all who made it through the year! OPENING y 3
