The 1973-74 foot- ball season, With the exception of one game, was excel- lent, The coaching staff and the return- ing team felt that they had an excel- lent chance to return as champions. They worked hard to achieve that goal and were successful. The team had a record of 8 wins and 1 loss. They tied with Shak0pee for first, in point stand- ing, during the competition of the teams in The Valley Conference. They finished 6th in the state, compared with 5th in state during the 1972-73 season. Coach John Ryski stressed that it would be difficult to name the teams most suc- cessful players, since football is a team sport. However, he did point out that 4 of the 31 seniors were selected to the All Conference Team. They were: Pat Moening--his 2nd year, Jeff Brace, Tom Neidenfeuhr, and Randy Franks. Randy Franks was also selected the most valuable play- er by his teammates.

The Gridmen did their party by shutting out St. Anthony 27-0. The king and queen Ueff Holte and Lisa Franseni, and all the attendants, looked handsome or beautiful as they should. Make-up and Dad's old coveralls did their part to augment the traditional celebration with the theme of farmer days. Homecoming '73 was indeed the way it should have been: happy, successful, victorious. The Eagle victory was solid and every player played. The vic- tory was the second shutout of the season, and the tenth con- secutive Hornecoming victory at Eden Prairie. Queen Candidates were Randi Gilhoi, Linda Johnson, Ruth Norsletten, Lisa Soderlind, and Queen, Lisa Fransen. King Candidates were Jeff Brace, Chris Geason, Bob Johnstone, Pat Moening, and King, Jeff Holte. The junior attendants were Liz Tracy and Mike Blood. Sophomore attendants were Cyndie Friswold and Mike Meyers. Lyn Tangen and Bill Daly were the freshman attendants. TOP LEFT: Ruth Nordsletten and her escort Rob Johnstone.
