There are tw0 phases of AFS - the Summer Program and the School Program. Under the AFS Summer Program, teenagers represent their schools, communities and country while living with V! $7 families abroad for six to ten weeks. In becoming the son , or daughteri of a host family, sharing in its daily life arid usual summer activities, Summer Program participants learn about the life and people of anothercountry. The Sum- mer Program takes place during June, July and August. The purpose and responsibilities of the School Program are essentially the same as the Summer Program. However, in addition to sharing the daily life of their host families, School Program students enter into the school life of a country abroad. Committee advisors in the school are Mrs. M. Wanek and Mrs. B. Nygaard. The committee itself is responsible for helping the exchange students to become acquainted with the school, its policies, and her assignments as well as getting her acquainted with the students. - P.
