Woodhouse, W. Fahlstrom, G. Carlson, T. Carlson, Mr. Stark. The band had a very successful year under the direction of Mr. Emmett Stark. The members are exceptionally happy that they have their new uniforms. The Eden Prairie Band is divided into many different organizations. One of the most active of these is the March- ing Band. This past year they participated in the Raspberry Parade, the Dan Patch Parade, the National V. F. W. Parade, the Halloween Parade in Anoka, Where they won a trophy, and at the University of Minnesota Band Day, as well as Lanlty Day. The Concert Ensemble is a select group which plays for most of theiconcerts. The Varsity Band, among other things, plays at all ball games. The Swing Band plays dance music, and played at its first school dance this year. The German Band and the Dixieland Band are small ensembles that en- tertain at various places, and annually at the Band Carnival. The key word in the vocabulary of all band students is PROGRESS, and with efforts such as this past yearls they will always realize their great goal. Varsity Band Row 1 -L. Phillips, G. Lindner, W. HOMECOMING I962 The Homecoming festivities began at 8 o'clock Thursday night, October 4, with the coronation of. the 1962 Homecoming King and Queen. Our new queen was Diane Ostman and the king was Tony Chevalier. The attendants from die senior class were Sue Finholt, Judy Moran, Wayne Kopesky, and Steve Schaitberger. The junior Class attend- ants were Carole Nelson and Marty Brakel, and those from the sophomore class were Nancy Linge and Maynard Tebben. The crownbearers were Laurie Ann Menge and Mike Pederson. Mike Geiger, a senior, was our Master of Ceremonies. Following the coronation, a bonfire and pepfest were held. Due to technical difficulties, the bonfire failed to burn properly until almost everyone had left. On the afternoon of October 5, the Eagles met Waconia in the first home game played on our own football field. Unfortunately the Eagles were unable to Keep the Injuns Runnin and suffered a defeat. The band presented a half- time program after which the royalty paraded around the Queen Diane and King Tony lead the Grand March field on a float decorated by the seniors and followed by to the bonfire. h a G.R.A. float. After the game, the junior class presented a Dr. Kildare skit. Friday night was the basketball game between the Eagles and the Chaska Hawks. Entertainment was pro- vided for us by the Senior High Trampoline Club. After the game, the Senior High Coronation was held with Sue Gagneron and Wayne Kopesky chosen to reign over the Sno-Daze activities. The Coronation'was followed by a 9-act talent show put on by the students. Cecilia Cruse and Mart Husbr were the Masters-of-Ceremonies. In- cluded in the show were the following acts: The Prairiettes, Janet 52362, Ken Millis, Linda Woolley, the Eden Prairie Combo, Zola Simons, Peggy Husby, the Bushbaums, and Sue Emerson. Moran award was presented to Tony Chevalier by Mr. Engstrom at the annual Athletic Banquet. This award stands for sportsmanship, honesty, clean living, loyalty, school spirit, and is presented annually to the jun- ior who best lives up to these standards. Tony participated in football, basketball, and track and is truly a fine athlete. He is also an outstanding student and is a member of the National Honor Society. The annual staff would like to congratulate Tony on his many fine achievements. There has been a strange sight at this yearis basketball games. Mr. Engstrom, after 26 years of coaching, has retired to the bleachers as a Spectator instead of being on the bench. In those 26 years Mr. Engstrom had the fortune of never coaching a team that finished in last place. Congratulations to a fine coach and a fine gentleman. Row 1 - T. Chevalier, D. Robertson, W.
