Text from Pages 1 - 74 of the 1962 volume:

In appreciation for her many years of service, the senior class Wishes to dedicate this annual to Miss Dotty Nye. Miss Nye graduated from St. Cloud State College. She taught for a while at a small rural school in Grant County. After that she spent four years teaching at Elbow Lake. Miss Nye taught at Eden Prairie for twenty-six years. She began by by teaching both the seventh and eighth grades. As Eden Prairie grew she taught only the eighth grade. Later she became the libra- rian, serving at the same time as science and math teacher for the seventh and eighth grades. Besides teaching, Miss Nye was always busy with extra activities. For many years she was advisor to the seventh and eighth grades. Her students were treated with many field trips and much nature study. She also served on committees for carnivals, athletic ban- quets, and Homecoming. Her activities outside school include membership in the Eden Prairie Women's Club and the Women's Association of the Eden Prairie Presbyterian Church. Although Miss Nye retired in 1960, she still spends part of her time here at school. She helps in the lunchroom and substitutes for absent teachers. She also is active sellingAvon products. Miss Nye Spends some of her leisure moments at a cabin in Otter Tail County. Another spare time activity is dancing. She is an excellent dancer and recently won a trophy for her ability. The seniors of 1962 are proud to have known such an industrious person as Miss Nye. She is a credit to the community as well as to Eden Prairie school. His greatesc: achievements were in track, and they include: First place at the Carleton Relays; set a new Conference shot-put record with a throw of 51'1 ; placed second in the district and first in the region, which qualified him for the state tournament in which he placed fifth in the shop put. This made him the first Eden Prairie student to participate in a state meet. John is now studying at Macalester College, where he is on the track and football teams.
