NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The Honor Society was organized to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to encourage the development of our high school. The members are selected by the faculty on the basis of scholar- ship, personality, and their activity in school functions. They are Chosen in the spring and are inducted into the society in a special innaugutation ceremony. Afterwards a banquet is held for the P. Anderson-Vice President, w, Boyd- members and students who have been on the honor roll twice during President, J. Doughty-SECrTl'ea-SO the school year. A pin, which has a Torch as its insignia, is presented to each member. The Honor Society was privileged this year to attend Youth Appreciation Night at the Prom on the Midway. At this event George Hamilton IV and Peter Townsend were among the top stars who entertained the young people. We feel the Honor Society gives the Students a special goal to strive for and we know that all those on the society are proud to have acheived this goal.

Kotmylo-Vice. President, R. Kopesky -Ptesident, Mr. Nelson-Advisor, Camera Dodger D. Dredge-Sec.-Treas. The student council is the main governing body of our school. The purpose of this organization is to promote the general welfare of our school, its students and faculty; uphold the high standards of this school and work towards closer co-operation between faculty and students in curricular and extra activities. One of the most important contributions of this year's council, under the supervision of Mr. Nelson, was the co-ordination of the class meetings with the council meetings. A schedule of class and council meetings was set up. The class meeting was held one week in advance of the council meeting. At this class meeting the agenda for the next council meeting was presented before the student body. The students could voice their opinions on the items to be brought up, and the student council representatives would get a better idea of how the majority of their class felt. The council also promoted stricter enforcement of the dress code and the scheduling of a dance per-month throughout the year.
