Class Prophecy As we make our social call to the Senior Class of 1954-55, our first stop is in that fascinating town of Hong Kong. There we see Karen Sorensen; she is doing her daily exercises to keep in shape so she can beat Mog Head Mae in her next bout. She is so excited about our visit her only comment is, See you at the wrestling matches. As our journey continues we bumpily land in SOuth America. We see a great big building, and we are Welcomed by Glenn Simons. He is the wealthy owner of the Simoglen Cigarette Company. His motto Not too strong, not too mild. Now we are walking down Hollywood and Vine; we come to a theatre and see a name in lights. It's Stan Riegert. He is working hard to replace Mar1an Brando after lVIar- lan's career is over. His comment, After all, 1am only a1itt1e boy. Our stomachs tell us it is lunch time. We look across the street and there is Mable's Exclusive Dining Hall. '1 Lo and behold, we find Ken Anderson as proprietor. We make a short stop in Central America, and as we are leaving, we pass the Queen K'oil Mattress Company where we find LaVonne Tobias bouncing to and fro, from bed to bed, testing their mattresses. As we journey to Honolulu, we see Mary Lou Garrison teaching Hula dancing. As we glance under a palm tree we find Marlin Hennen with his ukulele accompanying her pupils. We are surprised as we land in deepest Africa and find Lowell Timmersman's Lonely Hearts Club. He is at his desk reading letters from a stack of mail. Lucretia Whitney is awaiting our arrival in Paris. She is just finishing her day's work, modeling for the Raymond Mitchell Modeling Company. On the way out we say Hello to Ray wno has been very successful in his business. As we fly to Denmark, we see Burton Sutton doing body work. That is, auto body work. We are back in the states now and find Dorothy Holasek as a lawyer, deiending Public Enemy Number One. Her career nas been very successful. .Our journey has come to a close and we find that the Senior Class of 1955 has been very successful in the careers each has chosen. Signed: Junior Class of 1954-55 Class History As we draw closer to the end of our school days, we stop for awhile to conside r- some of the things school has meant to us. It has meant both work and play, but it also has had a greater meaning. We have received the experience, knowledge, and training which will enable us to go on to better things. When we think back on our previous school days, we remember the first time we met twelve years ago, as nervous and shy youngsters entering the first grade. There were sixteen of us that first year. Of these sixteen only three remain with us; they are LaVonne Tobias, Kenneth Anderson and Dorothy Holasek. The. other membersiof the class were Marian Clark, Lee Seek, David Penney, Larry Blakeborough, Elvera Peterson, Alan Reed, Marietta Reed, LaVonne Kling, Gary Kostecka, Alice Miller and Richard Miller. Our second grade found us with five new members, Mary Ann Clitty, Douglas Hathaway, RobertErissell, Nancy Savidge, and John Shannon. We lost Lee Seck,A1ice Miller and Richard Miller. In the third grade we lost only two of our classmates, Robert Erissell and Nancy Savidge. Bette Shaver, Jane Leary, Barbara and Beatrice Nelson and John Leonard were the additions to our fourth grade class. Our fifth year found us with three new members, Glenn Simons, Burton Sutton and Donald Peterson. Bette Shaver left us this year. By the time the class reached the sixth year, it had lost Alan Reed, Marietta Reed and Mary Ann Clitty. We gained Lowell Timmersman, Mary Lou Garrison and Wade Strout. In the seventh grade Carol Brunkhorst, Lorraine Haakinson and Karen Sorensen were the three additions to the class. Wade Strout and John Leonard left us that year. Bette Shaver joined our class in the eighth grade and Lowell Timmersman left. The Freshman class gained three new members, Ray Mitchell, Marlin Hennen and Stanley Riegert. In our Sophomore year Barbara and Beatrice Nelson were our two losses. Louise Knosalla, Bill Knosalla and Nancy Ferguson were our three additions. Our Junior year found us with two additions, Lowell Timmersman, and Lucretia Whitney. Our final year of high school finds us with only a dozen classmates. We have lost Louise and Bill Knosalla of our Junior year, but we still have Lowell Timmersman, Stanley Riegert, Lucretia Whitney, Dorothy Holasek, Ray Mitchell, Kenneth Anderson, LaVonne Tobias, Karen Sorensen, Burton Sutton, Glenn Simons, Mary Lou Garrison and Marlin Hennen. 13 14 The Will Marlin Hennen- I will my height to Dennis P. and my forward position to Tom A. and my Engli sh seat to anyone who can handle it. Despite bad weather conditions, a large crowd of alumni and others gathered in the beautiiully decorated gymnasium to witness the game and coronation. The E. P. Eagles lived up to the slogan Whip Waconia, by defeating Waconia's Warriors bi-44. The B-game was also in Eden Prairie's favor with a score of 28-25. Eden Prairie's B team during the past season compiled a creditable record of six wins against nine defeats. The B's were hampered by the 4-quarter rule, in effect for the first time this year which meant that they were seldom able to keep their strongest line-up on the floor for over a quarter a game as Ben Filipi, Tom Smith, Wayne Chevelier and Harold Duda were often called on as reserves in the A game. Other members of the B squad included David Pavelka, Bob Hirt, Jerome Pomerleau, Berton Pierce, Dan Shidla, Bruce Brekke, Tom and Don MacKinnon and Dennis Pomerleau. Leading scorers on the B's were Ben Filipi with 103 points and Tom Anderson and Marc LeSeuer with 87 each. 35 The Eagles of 1954-1955 compiled a record that in many respects was the best in the school's history. Fine team play, excellent shooting, and fine team spirit enabled the team to come back after an opening loss to Watertown and dominate the Valley Con- Ierence to bring home the iirst Championship since 1943. The starting team was composed of two excellent forwards in Marlin Hennen and Dellos Kopesky, a rugged center in Gene Kormylo, and two small but nifty guards in Capt. Glenn Simons and Bruce Bren. In addition to the starters the Eagles had two outstanding reserves in Lowell Timmersman and Jim Simons who Sparked the team in several close games and contributed materially to the successful season. Other re- serves who would probably have been regulars in most seasons included Burton Sutton, Kenneth and Thomas Anderson, Ben Filipi, Marc Le Sueur, Wayne Chevalier, Tern Smith, and Harold Duda. The loss of this year's Seniors, Glenn Simons, Marlin Hennen, Lowell Timmers- man, Burton Sutton, and Kenneth Anderson will be felt next year, but there are enough returning veterans to make the outlook tor next year rather bright. 36 LOWELL BURT Champs GLENN HAROLD GENE BRUCE TOM DE LLOS 37 38 l-r-FWH'IUD2 w gpm-l FIRST ROW: SECOND ROW: FIRST ROW: B.
