Senior Class Histor On September 18, 1942, seventeen of us enrolled in the first grade at Eden School. Miss Ivah Hendren welcomed us for our first of twelve happy years. We were: Charles Albea, Shirley Apple, Fredrick Bell, Mary Davis, Roberta El- more, Donald Hamilton, Linda Jackson, Ida Jinks, Paul Jones, Larry Lutz, Ann Moore, Julia Murfin, Larry Parker, Donald Pogue, Darrell Richards, Ruth Ann Walker, and Dick Taylor. During the six years we spent in the grades, several new students joined our number, and several left us. Those who came were:Mavis Olive, Patricia Huffman, Richard Boden, James W. Eisele Jr., Billy Bert Jones,James Taylor, James Gregg, William Hatfield, Corlan Weidman, Mattie Moore, Dorothy Savill, and Billy Moore. Ida Jinks, Donald Pogue, Julia Murfin, Roberta Elmore, James W. Eisele Jr., Patricia Huffman, Dick Taylor, James Gregg, Larry Lutz, Billy Moore, Mattie Moore left the community and Fred Bell died. Our teachers wereg lst grade, Miss Ivah Hendreng 2nd Grade,Mrs. Cloma Bussellgbrd R 4th grade,Mrs. Helen Bridges: and Sth k 6th grade, Mrs. Lois Humfleet. In September, 1948, we entered junior high. Our seventhandeighuagrade years were two happy ones for us. Two outstanding activities were: our seventh grade initiation andthewdnning of the Jr. High Tourney when we were seventh graders. During the seventh and eighth grade years, Shirley Eakins enrolled but Corlan Weidman, Dorthy Savill and Billy Bert Jones moved. Finally in September, 1950, we were really in high school-fourteen green mesh- iesg Charles Albee Jr., Shirley Apple, Richard Boden, Mary Ann Davis, Bill Hat- field, Linda Jackson, Paul Jones, Ann Moore, Mavis Olive, Larry Parker, Darrell Richards, Dick Taylor, Carolyn Barrett, Ruth Walker. Shirley Eakin left us dur- ing the year. The freshman initiation and the ordering of class sweaters were the highlights of our first year in high school. Our class colors were blue, ana white. - During our sophomore year we received our class sweaters and ordered our class rings. Carolyn Barrett and Richard Polous were members of our class for a time but during the summer they both withdrew. Carolyn settled down to mar- ried life and Richard moved to New Palestine. Our junior year was one of the busiest yearsof the twelve with all the prob- lems that accompany preparations for a carnival and a class play, but it was really fun. Another activity was the junior - senior trip to Chicago in the spring. Mrs. Charlene Daugherty was our sponsor: Rex Fraley came into our class during the first part of the last semester. We are now in the midst of our senior year. There are thirteen of us since Larry Parker withdrew: Charles Albee Jr., Shirley Apple, Richard Boden, Mary Ann Davis, Rex Fraley, Bill Hatfield, Linda Lou Jackson, Paul Jones, Ann Moore, Mavis Olive, Darrell Richards, Dick Taylor, and Ruth Ann Walker. Mrs. Ruthe O'Neal is our sponsor. Seven of us-Ruth.Ann Walker, Shirley Apple, Mary Davis, Ann Moore, Paul Jones, Charles Albea, and Darrell Ricnardsahave attendedschool together at Eden for twelve years. The senior year ls, of course, our most-looked-forward-to year of all, and in some ways it has been the most enjoyable. Some of the activities that will be treasured memories in time to come have been: our play nBab1es' Night Cut'3 the donkey ball game we sponsoredg the Christmas party at which we, as seniors, were privileged to be Santa's helpers: production of a year book: the choosing of our commencement announoementsg and exchanging chum pictures for our mem- o books. ryJust now planssme being madefbr the Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises and the eight day Washington - New York trip. We seniors are anticipating these outstanding events with much pleasure but as the time draws nearer, we are beginning to realize that high school days with all the fun and associations must soon end. So it is with a wee bit of longing and sadness that we look forward to things to come in the not too distant future. W www. - QW, ,g,,,,,.., C3,....o..-aa.
