B11 glzt and Early jrnsb COMPLETING the first order of knighthood, the Freshmen observe their shield. Upon it they have engraved symbols of victories they have gained in three years of junior high school adventures. Even before they enter high school that shield is well emblaz' oned. For school work they record the two plays produced in English class. The girls looked well in Alice Blue Gown and the boys did a handsome job in A Close Shave. The English pupils also made an extensive study of careers and prepared talks and booklets on them. The athletic symbol signifies the work of Clifford Brock' man and Richard Thompson on the varsitv basketball team and of a large number of their classmates who were jayvees. Orches' tra, band, and chorus were sustained by the talents of many students, and Donna Knight played in the dance band. A well decorated shield is theirs to carry on. TOP- At board: J. Bauer, R. Problems National and Global 'abt GREATER courage and more experience lead the second year junior high school class into adventures before untried. The eighth grade achieved real success athletically in this sea' son's field meet and in their rugged basket' ball team fstarring the Petroff twins, Dwight Webster, Leroy Rockwood, Robert Rendell and Earl Millerl. Scholastically, science was a practical study of the environf ments-rocks, purification of water and air pressure. English units consisted of book character contests, actual dramatic perform' ances, the analysis of poetry, and the devel' opment of paragraphs. Within their homerooms, the bulletin boards, always attractive, once displayed many kinds of ships, reminders of school friends, now in the Navy. Several eighth graders joined the 4fH Club: Joe and James Petroff, Oliver Sullif van, Leroy Rockwood, Don Zittel, and Earl Miller.
