The girls' team of 1946 started off the season by defeating Media. The lassies won by so slight a margin that rooters held their breath and hoped that they would gain confidence, After tak- ing two losses, issued by Darby and Glen-Nor, the girls came back to defeat Nether Providence on the home court. Ridley Park came next and scored an overwhelming victory to make the mid-season count at 2 wins and 3 losses. When the Chester maids came strol- ling in, confident of taking the neighboring team they were dis- appointed to find themselves defeated by one point. Ridley Town- ship was the girls' only tie. The Stonerettes then went to Clifton and came home victorious. Upper Chichester and Collingdale topped Eddystone to end their season. Bringing the count to 4 wins. 5 losses, and l tie. Leaving the Varsity this year is captain, Evelyn lVlcKane, forward. Guards lane Bowhall and Dolores Goudy are also leav- ing. These girls did a great job of speedy interceptions. Remaining varsity players are. Loretta Sharkey and Margery Iohnston, forwards, and i'Penny Prendergast, guard. Coming up next year will be Doris DuBois, Stella Teriaro, and Ioyce Pyett candidates for guarding positions with Anne Tatasciore and lane Ersek as forwards.
