10x My Edystones basketball team this year. despite its diminutiveness, its lack of stature, turned out a fine performance winning ll out of 16 games. With the uncanny shooting of Keeth and McElwee, the superla- tive guarding and ball-handling of Kilby, and the stellar work of Eggers and lVlcLarnon under the backboards, Coach Fryer put a team on the floor that started like a house afire defeating Collingdale, lVlarple-New- town. Darby, Ridley Township and Ridley Park in turn. After having their flame somewhat dampened by victorious Glen-Nor. they blazed up to defeat Upper Chichester and Swarthmore. Their fire. lacking the necessary room to flame brightly, died down long enough to enable Prospect Park to give us a set-back. Flaming brightly they badly burned Sharon Hill and again won out over Township. section 4 champions. Dropping a crucial game to Ridley Park, in a Hsudden death period, almost extinguished the fire, for the squad lost in rapid succession to Glen-Nor and Swarthmore. But a few burning embers were left and they blazed up brightly as the quintet from Eddystone triumphed over Media and Prospect Park. Our final game. with Darby. was called off because ofa case of spinal meningitis in our school. ln spite of the tough opposition offered us by Lansdowne and Svxarthiiiore. Eddystone managed to reach the semi-Hnals in the Kiwanis i'1L1I'!l.1IUCI1IOUlyIO be halted by our nemesis. Glen-Nor. Statistics show that out of 20 games, including non-league tilts and liixxniziis iiiatihes. Eddyston-3 won 1-1. ln the league we wound up tie for third place. winning 5 and losing 5.

Ridley Township and Collingdale were the girls' next victims, both of a 3-1 score. Ridley Park ended their season by a set back of 4-l.
