And johnny Whitehead acted like a typical freshman. 4 Danny Bush, Paula laneway, Vickie Abbott, and Tommy Bellows served as ushers at high school graduation exercises. Mrs. Lawrence's class hammed it up. And the journalism stu- dents questioned Bob Krueger at a political rally. s Kindergarten and first grade students spent their recess time on the playground equip- ment. Danny Bush demonstrated the King Tut. And Tommy Bellows helped Nellie and Blondie in the kitchen. U ' V W 6 ACTIVITIES THE HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL We held our annual Halloween Carnival on October 27. lacinda Smith and Michael Stephens were crowned King and Queen of the grade school. In their court were Dona Spindle, Joe Brewer, Renae Grantland, Paul Glaser, Jalah Newell,). J. White, Tonia Trammell, Mike Taylor, Beverly Roberts, Chris Turner, Tina Wiley, Joe Large, Connie Stroud, and Bart Tad- lock. 8 DRAWS A CROWD King and Queen of the high school were julianne Bellows and Mike Ellis. The Royal Court included Debbie Cobb, )oe Garcia, Vickie Abbott, Mike Cox, Rena Willingham, and Eugene Leroy. Crown- bearers were Danny Daniels and April Hill. 9 STUDENTS CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS Third and fourth graders wished everyone a Merry Christmas. The freshmen had a party in Mr. Morris' room. Juniors had a merry time with chips and dips, punch and cookies. Then we all convened in the auditorium to exchange gifts and sing carols. to WITH PLAY AND PARTIES Mrs. Dickson's class performed a Christmas play for the entire school and parents. Julie Denton and Kenneth Long extolled the praises of Doritos and bean dip. The Beta Club took in four new members this year: Julianne Bellows, Randy Godwin, Steve Leroy, and Robert Spindle. They sold calendars, sponsored a Christmas bake sale, and flew to San Antonio for the state convention. 12 INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE ENTRANTS High school competitors were: FIRST ROW: Kita Turner, Julie Denton, Sonya johnson, julianne Bellows, Roy Garcia. 2nd ROW: judy Hill, jeff White, Paula janeway, Kenneth Abbott, Steve Abbott. 3rd ROW: Karen Large, Kyle Denton, Chris Hopkins, Vickie Abbott, Eugene Leroy, and Danny Bush. One-Act play participants were: 1st ROW: Chris Hopkins, Bill White, joe Garcia, Danny Bush. 2nd ROW: judy Hill, Karen Large, Vickie Abbott, Debbie Cobb. 13 JUNIOR HIGH AND ELEMENTARY UIL Seventh and eighth grade entrants were: 1st ROW: Terry Johnson, Sharon Roberts, Chris Sellers. 2nd ROW: Bart Tadlock, Betty Sells, Joe Large Elementary participants in UIL were: 1st ROW: Robert Huff. 2nd ROW: Terri Hasten, Beverly Roberts, Terri Bingham. 14 ENTRANTS 15 All students had a part in Interscholastic League, evalu- ating and criticizing the entrants in practice sessions. JUNIORS ENTERTAIN SENIORS ... The 1979 junior-Senior Banquet was held at Down- stairs-Upstairs in Sherman. The affair was strictly black tie. Mike Cox and Chris Hopkins enter- tained their dates with witty repartee while )oe Garcia, Kelly Taylor, and Tommy Bellows waited to have their pictures taken. Bill White, Shirley Taylor, and Karen Large gathered around the appetizers. 16 JUNIORS AND SENIORS WORK TOGETHER Juniors and seniors presented a three-act comedy, The Campbells Are Coming, on May 18 and 19. Proceeds of the play were used for senior trip funds. 17 JUNIOR HIGH GRADUATION 1st ROW: Sharon Roberts, Tina Wiley, Connie Stroud, Stella Garcia. 2nd ROW: Buddy Smith, Wally Spindle, William Sevier, Bart Tadlock. SENIORS '79 GRADUATE Five seniors graduated in the commencement exercises on May 25. Joe Garcia was Valedictorian and Bill White was Salutatorian.
