BASKE TBALL This year the Echo High School basketball season was unique in the respect that the Rockets for the first time in history had a Distr-ict 10 Crown to defend. Although there were only three members back from last year's Cinderella Champions, intense interest in the sport provided Coach Voss with enough capable players to form another first rate team. Playing an extensive schedule, the Rockets acquitted themselves very well by winning a vast majority of their games. Somewhat in-experienced, they suffered an early defeat at the hands of the Redwood Falls Cardinals. However, they got right back on the winning road, and stayed there, until a Christmas vacation defeat by Hull, Iowa. Later in the season the Rockets fell before the Morgan i Raiders and split games with Morton, Franklin, and Woodlake. Excellent coaching by Jack Voss, plus the desire to win for Geek gave the team the impetus it needed to make the season a success. The wonderful spirit exhibited by the boys made the student body and community proud of them, regard less whether they won or lost. Capable cheerleaders and good student backing at all the games gave the team rousing support. Prospects for next season are very bright, with eight of the first ten coming back for a repeat performance. The B team will have good boys graduating from its ranks, so another topnotch team seems eminent. Graduating Lettermen: Clayton Anderson, Murl Kletscher. Returning Lettermen: Glennis Meier, Argene Froland, Ken Taylor, Warner Hein, Willard Viergutz. Games Played: Echo Wabasso Echo Redwood Falls Echo Woodlake Echo Sanborn Echo Walnut Grove Echo Morton Echo Luck, Wisconsin Echo Hull, Iowa Echo Belview Echo Franklin Echo Cottonwood Echo Morton Echo Granite Falls Echo Maynard Echo Cottonwood Echo Franklin Echo Morgan Echo Belview Echo Woodlake Echo Sanborn Echo Walnut Grove
