Jo' I'I'Z'Z'I'I'I'f V A L E D I C T 0 R I A N A D D R E S S Fellow graduates, esteemed teachers, Mr. Butcher, and friends: For the first time in five years the graduating class of Ebenezer High School is facing, not a world at war as did those who preceded us, but a world trying hard to accomplish something in the direction of a lasting peace. Ne are not looking-ahead to the winning of the war, aB did the graduates in the past four classes, but we are looking ahead toward joining with them in preserving that peace which they have so dearly won. We may not think that world peace is entirely possible, nor should we forget that we were not prepared either in mind or might to participate in the recent world conflict, but we should seek to encourage in every way possible the beautiful hope of peace everlasting and contentment through out the world There are those among us who will recall that eventful Monday, December 8, 1941, when we assembled in this auditorium and listened to the radio broadcast over which the president asked Congress to declare a state of war between ourselves and the aggressor nations Ne were then in eighth grade and were told by our teachers that this was one of the most important events in the history of our country During the four years that followed most of our students went into the armed forces upon graduation and some before graduation Je experienced air raid drills and blackouts, scrap drives and bond drives, and for a while things looked dark Then as the nation gather ed its full strength, the tide turned and our armed forces were successful We now find ourselves in the aftermath of that war Upon graduation some of us will seek Jobs and immediately find our selves in direct contact with those who are trying to make the world a better place in on to further study but and problems Together honestly, sensibly, and a world structure of greater social, economic, and political stability and tranquility which to live Others among us will go will eventually reach the same place we should try to face our problems idealistically in order to help establl No matter what aareer we as individuals may follow, we should be earnest 1n trying to give to the world and mankind a better place in which to live lhether our contribution be large or small, we would strive to give ideals and improvements that may make lif more worth while for all conditions of men, that they may be better people through our efforts and service In so doing we shall be faithful to the memory of those former graduates who have fought for these ideals Ne are grateful to our teachers for thus guiding us and X GED sh are acceyt our place beside those who have done their share in making this world secure from the danger of evil and misery ihus we would be remembered as those who assist mankind in developing security and happiness, with the help of God David Kluge fo ' AQQQQ5, Jggg gggiggga :I O Q0 .,o','ozSo 5 ,.f 1? of ..::.' , ff SCX X X o 'Q me X if - - gfgzgfgfgagfasfsizieifizs iiffifieififffzifif . . - Q - ' 55255355E252EiE5555i5555555525s?151E ' ' ' ' O ' - ' A . - ' EfEfZQEQEfEfEfEfEfEi' 155553 ' .
