,w ff Qi. Brahmans Finish 28-9, Go 7-5 in District The Varsity Basketball team opened up what was hoped to be a great season by defeating Kashmere by the score of 87- 44. Furr went to the Corpus Christi Tournament with a 6-O record. At Corpus Christi, the Brahmans defeated Corpus Christi Ray, Corpus Christi Miller, Reagan, and Corpus Christi Carroll. This gave them the Championship and a I0-0 record. Furr then headed for the Spring Branch Tournament with a l2-0 record. Spring Branch and Furr, the only two unde- feated teams in the Houston area, were tournament favor- ites. As predicted, Furr and Spring Branch were in the finals but the Brahmans were forced to take second place as ci result of a 60-52 loss to Spring Branch. At the time of the J C Tournament, Furr and Wheatley were tournament favorites. But the Brahmans lost two games and were out of the tournament early. Furr, a strong contender for the l7-AAAA crown, entered district play with an impressive l9-4 season record. The Brahmans outstanding play seemed to have disap- peared when they lost three district games in a row. Through the rest of district play, the Brahmans lost two more games which gave them a 7-5 district record and a 28- 9 season record. Timothy Sims and Willie Foreman were named to the All- District I7-AAAA first team. 1Top Leftj Arthur Floyd takes baseline iump shot. ILeftj Coach Baker and players watch tense game.
