On one side of the street sits a group of young men whose faces are eagerly turned toward a learned philosopher such as Socrates as he gives them his crude but ageless ideas on life and wisdom. Compare the above setting with Eau Claire Memorial and the time 1958. A much larger group of students are sitting by new desks or tables, the room is brightly lighted, the equipment is new, and the teacher is one who has been specially trained for his profession. These two contrasting scenes are given to show the great change in our educa- tional system from that of the past. Not only are the opportunities in ed- ucation increasing. but people are becoming more aware of their obligations toward our younger citizens by providing for their use modern facilities. such as our new school building. We, the students of Memorial High School, wish to thank the taxpayers, school board, and all others without whose ef- forts our school would have remained a dream, rather than the reality it is today. Our way of showing our appreciation for this adventure into knowledge is to dedicate our 1958 Kodak to you the public, also, because we are proud of our new building, we would like to take you on a guided tour. This is our school. .
