Too often we find people who think a person is prudish if he is careful with his speech. The purpose of the required courses in the three-year exposure given high school students is to promote better speech and acquaint them with the best in literature, both of English and American. The teachers of the English Department, directed by Mr. Mathison, are giving us a thorough training in all phases of English. Those who enroll for a fourth year course usually plan to take it up in college or take it just because they enjoy studying more about our language. The library on the second floor is in easy reach of all. Miss Yule and Mrs. White assisted by the library council keep the library running smoothly at all hours of the school day. Miss Dougherty ' s English class is studying the correct form of business letters. 1 i i t t I
