PROUDLY PRESENTS ITS ANNUAL FOR THE YEAR 1972 - 1973 The 1973 Annual Staff would like to Dedicate this year's annual to Mr. Paul Bergan. Mr. Bergan came to Eau Claire High School in 1971. The coach has done a lot for our school, mainly in sports. He showed us what champions are and the meaning involved. On behalf of the effort, love, and pride he brought to our school, we the annual staff feel honored in dedicating this year's book to our Coach. We'd like to express our deepest gratitude and our warmest regards to you, Coach Bergan. Thanks for all you've done. The 1973 Annual Staff 2 SUPERINTENDENT McALVEY This book contains the record by both word and pictures of many activities in the Eau Claire High School during the past year. Each recorded event is a memorable one to those of us who have participated in those particular activities. As the years pass by, each of us will appreciate more and more the fine efforts of our yearbook staff for fur- nishing us with so many pleasant memories. These memories may be rather nostalgic too for this will be the last publication from the old Eau Claire High School. Next fall we will be able to attend the new high school on Hochberger Road and next year we will have a new book, the first from a new facility. I hope that each of you who will be returning will be prepared to enjoy a new era Claire community. Best wishes to each and every student. Every one seems to be trying to get ahead of someone else. Ideals are forgotten in the mad rush to acquire material possessions. The greatest need today is for more old-fashioned charac- ter, honesty, integrity, kindness, and love for one's fellow men; a slowing down of the rush long enough for us to realize that we are not here for so very long a time. To be able to take life as we find it is the key to whole- some living. It is the desire of every one to find success and happiness. Often it is thought that the acquisition of wealth will insure happiness, but nothing could be farther from the t. ruth. Happiness comes from within, and rests securely on simple goodness and a clear conscience; with accepting life as one finds it; in giving his best in everything he does; in the realization that no matter what one's lot in life, each one of you is important. As the most of your days in the future must of necessity be spent with work, carefully choose your vocation, and work at the work you enjoy doing; for only when you do will you be truly happy. Our best to all of you in the Class of 1973. It is our hope that all of you find happiness in the years ahead. 145 SENIOR INDEX AMABILE, MICHELE: Basketball 1 3, Softball 1, Cheerleading 1,3,4, Girls Track 1, Volleyball 1, Choir 1, Homecoming Candidate 4, Girls' State Representative 3, Salutatorian 4, Miss Sodas 4, Class Sec. 1 3, Student Council Representative 1. A THOUGHTFUL WORD FROM THE ADVISOR A yearbook is a cooperative project. The advisor wishes to thank those who did cooperate and did finish their work in a timely manner. Some staff members failed to finish their assignments and the responsibility fell completely upon the teacher for completion of this work. He had to personally make many layouts and “burn the midnight oil often to assure that the class of '73 would have its yearbook. To the staff of this yearbook I wish the best. 149 m WALSWORTH Marcrlinr. Mo . I S A
