Text from Pages 1 - 112 of the 1971 volume:

THE ANNUAL STAFF OF EAU CLAIRE HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS THE 1971 BEAVER TALES Mr. Allen Terpstra The 1971 Annual Staff would like to dedicate this year's annual to Allen Terpstra. Mr. Terpstra wasn't merely a teacher, he was someone that cared for his students and their problems. Whenever a student had a problem, Mr. Terpstra would sit down with that student and offer guidance. Many times just talking would resolve the problem. He even started a Teen Club to promote student interest in a club. It is almost a rarity anymore to find someone who is interested in the student and his problems. The students and administration of Eau Claire High School were very fortunate to have someone like Mr. Terpstra on the staff. We want to wish him the best of luck with whatever he decides to pursue in the future. 2 The 1971 Annual Staff IN MEMORIAM CHERYL ROSENBERG Cheryl would have been a member of the graduating class of 1971, if not for her death in her freshman year after a lengthy illness. Yet, those people close to her remember what an outgoing and friendly person she was. She was interested in people, and because she was, she was always doing things to help them. Because she was this kind of person, it seemed fitting to do something in memory of her. For this reason the board out in front of the school was erected in her memory. Even though time has a way of letting our memories fade, it won't let those people close to her forget what a great friend she was. 3 SUPERINTENDENT Donald G. McAlvey This book contains many recollections of happy and memorable times in the Eau Claire High School. As time passes each of you will appreciate those happy school days more and more. I certainly trust that time spent in these halls of learning have been profitable and will in some small measure make work and leisure times more enjoyable and worthwhile for all of you. My best wishes go with each and every student. A beautiful Thursday evening set the mood for the 78 graduating Seniors. Many thoughts and memories, a few tears, and lots of happy faces made the 1971 graduation a most memor- able evening. Baccalaureate 89 Through the past year you have undoubtedly made many new friends, met many many new people, and renewed old acquaintances both at school and away from school. As your scope of friends broadens with each coming day, we hope that this book will recall some forgotten friend to mind. JOHN E. If you honestly expect to achieve success, then you must have a definite goal in life, and your goal must be rationally chosen. It may be romantic and exciting to dream of being a top executive. Wishing and dreaming will not make you an executive; ability and hard work could. You must decide whether your goal is within the realm of your capabilities. Also, it must be some- thing you enjoy doing; for only then will you be willing to put forth the extra effort in time and study to excell in your chosen field of endeavor. When you make your decision, make sure it is the JOB you want, and not merely the impressive position. Our best to all of you in the years ahead.
