Text from Pages 1 - 128 of the 1970 volume:

THE ANNUAL STAFF OF EAU CLAIRE HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS THE 1970 BEAVER TALES DEDICATION MR. and MRS. REDMAN “If a man . . . has a talent and learns somehow to use the whole of it, he has gloriously succeeded, and won a satisfaction and a triumph few men ever know.’’ We wish to dedicate our 1970 annual to two people who have always contributed their time and energy towards making it a reality, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Red- man. Whenever we needed him, Mr. Redman was there, ready to help. Besides being a faithful fan of our team, he always carried his camera to catch the best pos- sible action shots. His smiling face will not soon be forgotten at Eau Claire High School. Mrs. Redman, in her studio, caught a person’s best side on film. Her profes- sional experience and cheerful disposition made the chore of picture taking a lot easier and a lot more fun. To this couple we owe our deep gratitude and thanks We wish them great hap- piness in their future, for they have gloriously succeeded.’’ Thomas Wolfe The 1970 Annual Staff —s SUPERINTENDENT DONALD G. MCALVEY Mr. McAlvey came to our school following a difficult time period. However, this did not effect his performance at our school. He made it clear from the start that he was concerned about us, the students. His smile was a constant attribute to his personality. Through his administration, we learned that a superintendent could be both effec - tive and pleasant. Thank you, Mr. McAlvey. PRINCIPAL JAMES R. MC DUFFIE Mr. McDuffie was an individual with a personality unique to our school. His administration proved to be resourceful due to his new ideas concern- ing ancient techniques, and his famous smile be- came an intricate part of our school life. An important part of an education is learning about people. Through Mr. McDuffie, we have learned more of what life is really all about. 4 BOARD OF EDUCATION Left to right, back to front: Mr. Donald G McAlvey. Superintendent; Mr Sheldon Rosenberg. Whether it was on the volleyball court, in the classroom, or on a judo mat, he ex- celled. Given the situation, Nathan came through in a manner superior to most individuals. To Nathan we wish the best in his further en- deavors, at college and in his future vocation. We are sure that he will be a success in whatever he attempts. ALAN CHISEK Alan is a born leader. If help was needed, Alan proved to be the most reliable and responsible individual that one could find. The basketball and football team certainly bene- fited from his endeavors. Under his leadership, the Student Council, Prom Committee, and his class prospered. As an individual, A1 was fun loving and a pleasure to be around. We are certain that A1 will be a further success at Michigan Tech and in his following vocation. 74 Class Officers: Janet Arnt, Secretary; Rick Peppel, Student Council Representative; Pat Wolf, Student Council Representative; Dennis Prillwitz, President; Alan Chisek. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT YELL OR SCREAM ‘If you don’t like it-yell or scream’ was an abstract reading performed for the Honor Students. The Reading, consisting of poems and narrative pieces (many written by stu- dents), carried deep meaning and was a most different and enjoyable experience for the students. 101 eye, a smile to your face, or a lump in your throat, then certainly our efforts have been more than worthwhile. The 1970 BEAVER TALES STAFF 104 Among man’s greatest treasures in life, memories are certainly the most precious. As you turn the pages of this annual, we sin- cerely hope a few of these memories will come back to you, the hardships and the re; wards. If only once we bring a tear to your ADVERTISEMENTS To the Class of 1970 - To achieve any goal in life one must first decide what one wants to achieve. Climbing to the top is a matter of willingness to pay the price. Most of us are willing to give about eight hours a day to our jobs. Up to this point everyone else is in the race; but those who forge ahead, put in “overtime”. The return for a standard day’s work is moderate because competition is so keen, but overtime pay is always high - it goes up in geo- metrical ratio. Many thousands have the ability to achieve outstanding success in every undertaking of life - industry, politics, literature, music, - if they are willing to give themselves and overtime to one achievement. Remember, getting is the result of giving. When one directs all his energy into one channel, and gives himself wholly to one task, one can achieve nearly any goal that he may want in life. Our best to all of you, and may success and happiness be yours in the years ahead.
