STANDING: John Vermilya, Superintendent of Schools since 1960, received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Defiance College, his Master of Arts at Western Michigan University, and is continuing work at Michigan State University. Robert Koening, Trustee, member of the board since July 1961, is a farmer and part owner of Wonderland Orchard. Lawerence Kesterke, Trustee, member since July 1959, is service manager at Ashley Ford. Max Stover, also a Trustee, has been a member since July 1960. He is a farmer. SITTING: Phil Rakauski has been a Trustee member since July 1960. Mr. Rakauski is a farmer and is an employee of Gardener’s Sporting Goods store in Benton Harbor. Clare Ferguson, Treasurer, has been a member of the board since 1960 and is owner of Ferguson and Sons Incorporated. John Burbach, President, has been a member since July 1955, and is a fruit farmer. John Schadt, the Secretary, has been a member of the board since July 1956, and is part owner in a lumber company. io

As each of you passes along life's highway, there is probably no time of more mixed emotion than on your high school graduation day. After many years of preparation, which have included much hard-work, frustration, disappointment and joy, a new station in life has been achieved —a plateau has been reached. The courses or pathways which you will follow from this point will be many and varied, but irrespective, it is our ardent hope and prayer that you will become responsible citizens, fully appreciative of our democratic way of life.
