EAU CLAIRE HIGH SCHOOL Eau Claire, Michigan Jim Utrup-Editor « As the year is rapidly coming to an end we realize that we Seniors are soon going to leave this school. It is now time to present this year's BEAVER TALES. We have tried to catch glimpses here and there of school life, so that in future years we can look back on our memories. It is our hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed giving it to you. The Annual Staff wishes to dedicate this year's Beaver Tales to Mrs. Young. Though we have known her for only these four short years we know we will never forget her because of her friendliness, untiring effort, and interest in us. We know she will live on in our hearts and minds even after we have left Eau Claire High School. 4 e mo r i a m Now he is gone Like a flight of wild birds, And things that were words before, Are more than words. Courage and Loyalty, Humor and Pride------ These are the weapons He used till he died. Love gives life meaning In a look, in a breath, But never so truly Or deeply as death. Adapted from f’Words By Dorothy Aldis 5 The original high school was built in 1920, having an attendance of only one-hundred elementary and high school students. In 1936 the shop building was added. In 1952 the gymnasium, stage, locker rooms and kindergarten room were built on. Now, the total at- tendance of the high school and junior high school alone is 454 students. 9 s The Lybrook addition was built in 1958 to house elementary students. At the present time it is being used for Junior High classes and the elementary students attend the new elementary building which was built in 1960. ADMINISTRATION Near the end of another school year, let us reflect on the experiences of the past several months. During this time much has been accomplished in the way of improving school spirit, pupil-teacher relationships, and in strengthening the school program. To you seniors we wish you good fortune in your future undertakings. We hope that your school experiences will be of help to you in these deliberations. John B. Vermilya Superintendent of Schools a As each of you passes along life's highway, there is probably no time of more mixed emotion than on your high school graduation day. After many years of preparation, which have included much hard-work, frustration, disappointment and joy, a new station in life has been achieved —a plateau has been reached. The courses or pathways which you will follow from this point will be many and varied, but irrespective, it is our ardent hope and prayer that you will become responsible citizens, fully appreciative of our democratic way of life. What the future holds no-one knows, but we do wish you good luck and Godspeed. Jack E. Sue Burbach, Jean Wagner, Gaye Wilson, Marjorie Hewitt, This concludes our 1964 edition of the Beaver Tales. As you thumb through the pages from time to time we hope that you will remember the many good times that you have had during the past year. We hope that you have enjoyed it as much as we have enjoyed giving it to you. Respectfully, The Annual Staff 78 ADVERTISERS CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 1964! If you would achieve success and happiness, find early in life the kind of work you love to do. This alone is one of the biggest decisions you will ever be called upon to make. Consider well that man is like the spider. The spider spins his own reel from within. When a man has come to the point where he wishes to de- termine the kind of employment in which he will best succeed, he must take thought of the spider, for only out of himself can he produce the web which to snare fortune. « No kernel of nourishing corn, said Emerson, can ever come to a man save out of that particular plot of ground which the almighty has given him to till. There is no man who is without some particular talent of mind, hands, or body. It need not follow that he should be an engineer, a doctor or a lawyer. He may be a born mechanic. He may be able to do with machinery as he might with dominoes. What ever he wants to be, that he can be, for the desire would not exist if the ability to satisfy it were not latent. The work that a person feels will be a perpetual joy to him is the work he should select. May each of you be fortunate in selecting the work that will bring to you the success and happiness you so richly deserve. EAU CLAIRE PACKING COMPANY R. A. BOB PAYNE, PRES.
